How does the U.S. Bank Altitude Go Secured card's rental car insurance work?
Unfortunately, the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa® Secured Card does not offer a rental car insurance benefit. The card does, however, offer 1 - 4 points per $1 spent on purchases and has a $0 annual fee. You can also build credit with this card, because it reports your activity to the three major credit bureaus.
In general, credit card rental car insurance provides coverage against damage and theft of a rental vehicle, usually up to the vehicle's actual cash value, when the rental is paid for entirely with an eligible credit card. To get coverage, the cardholder must decline the rental agency's insurance plan.
If you're looking for a credit card with rental car insurance, consider the USAA® Secured Visa Platinum® Card, instead. This card provides coverage for damage caused by theft or collision up to the actual cash value of most rented cars. There are plenty of other options to consider, as well.
