Specifically, the annual fee drops to $0 - $49 after the first year, and a monthly fee of $5 - $12.50 gets added to the mix at that point.
The best features of the Aspire Credit Card are a credit limit of up to $1,000, monthly credit bureau reporting, and solid rewards. Cardholders earn 3% cash back when paying for gas, groceries and household utilities, as well as 1% cash back on all other purchases. But if you don’t pay the card’s bill in full every month, the very high Aspire Credit Card interest rate will quickly wipe out your savings.
Aspire Credit Card Review Highlights
One-time fee: $0 Unlike some unsecured credit cards for bad credit, the Aspire Credit Card does not charge a one-time fee for application processing.
Annual fee:$49-$175 1st yr, $0-$49 after For context, the average annual fee among new credit card offers is $22.29. Furthermore, several credit cards for people with bad credit have no annual fee.
Monthly fee:$0 1st yr, $5-$12.50 after Most credit cards do not charge monthly fees. If you apply for this card, aim to improve your credit score enough in one year to upgrade to a cheaper offer.
Interest Rate:29.99% or 36% The Aspire Card’s APR is significantly higher than the average APR among new credit card offers right now (22.89%). Carrying a balance from month to month with this card will get very expensive very quickly.
Credit limit: up to $1,000 The Aspire Credit Card’s spending limit depends on an applicant’s overall creditworthiness, including their credit history, income and debts.
Rewards:1 - 3% cash back The Aspire Credit Card rewards cardholders with 1% cash back on most purchases. The exceptions are gas, grocery and utility purchases/payments, which yield 3% back. To give you a sense of how good that is, the average cash rewards card gives 1.15% on purchases.
Card Network:Mastercard The Aspire Credit Card is on the Mastercard network. That means it can be used pretty much anywhere that accepts credit cards worldwide. But you probably won’t want to take this card abroad, given its 3% foreign transaction fee.

The Aspire Card's starting credit limit is $350. This limit is guaranteed for everyone approved for the card. Your initial credit limit might be more, though, depending on your creditworthiness.

You can apply for the Aspire Cardonline, or by responding to a mail offer. When you apply online, you start by completing a form to see if you pre-qualify. The Aspire® Cash Back Reward Card interest rate is 29.99% or 36%, with the actual rate depending on factors such as your income, credit history and existing debt. This Aspire Card card interest rate is fixed, meaning the rate does not change based on economic conditions, like a variable rate would.
The Aspire Card gives you a 25-day grace period to avoid paying interest on your purchases. The grace period runs from the end of the billing period until the card's payment...
The Aspire® Cash Back Reward Card works as a first-time credit card since it is available to people with bad credit. It is not the best choice for a first-time credit card, though, because it charges an annual fee of $49-$175 1st yr, $0-$49 after, and a monthly fee after the first year.

I have had the card for at least a year. I made every payment for more than the minimum. I received a letter raising the interest rate by 7% starting July 1. I cancelled the card.

Horrible credit card. Please, do not apply for this Aspire credit card if you don't want to have one of the worst experiences of your life. I know things are tough right now, but listen to me. This is the worst predatory credit card I have ever used. I am only a couple of payments away from paying off my card, and I called them and expressed my frustrations. They are charging me almost the same interest at $458.00 as when the card was at $2000.00. They sent me an updated list of terms, which is what they do all the time. They started me off with good terms and no annual fee, but recently they sent new terms stating the new interest rates on everyone's cards are now 36.99% APR, and now a yearly user fee of $87.00. I told them I do not approve and cannot use their card in the future, which I have absolutely no plans to do so anyway. Worst credit card I have ever had, so consumers beware. I will tell everyone I can to stay away from Aspire. This is by far the CRAPPIEST card I have ever used.

Aspire was good at first, but soon after receiving the card, they started adding annual fees: $60.00 on my account and $159.00 on my wife's. We always pay early and have good credit. We are canceling both cards.

I've had this card for five years. The first four years were great. I had no complaints. I referred friends to try them. I used it often. It was a useful card. Their APR was in line with everyone else. There were no additional fees, there were no surprises.
What was once a great card is now a sick, predatory institution. I pay on time, at least twice the minimum, every single month. Six months ago, everything changed. They added a maintenance fee of $60/year, billed at $5/month. At that point, I decided once I paid off the card, I would get rid of it. It was nearly paid off when today, I get a message that the fee is now $87/year, at $7.25/month. There were NO annual or monthly fees or any other predatory fees when I got this card. On top of increasing the "account maintenance fee," they decided my APR would be increased to 36%!
It's also SUPPOSED to be a cash back reward card with 1-3% cash back on purchases. I've never received any cash back. They also hounded me to APPLY for a $250 credit increase, and if I chose to accept, I'd be rewarded with a "Credit Limit Increase Fee of $49.95" JUST TO APPLY FOR IT, listed on my bill as a "Credit Limit Increase Finance Charge".
Furthermore, the app is useless, as is their website. Trying to even log in, I have to try 5-6 times with multiple verification codes. Many times those verification codes that expire in 10 minutes time aren't sent for hours after it was requested. If I do get in, half the time the website freezes and kicks me out, and I have to start over. The app will get stuck on the "aspire" screen and never load beyond it.
They close their comedy by calling me a valued customer and telling me they appreciate me for being a loyal cardholder. This valued, loyal customer just paid off her card and shut it down. DO NOT get this card. This card is a joke. They provide absolutely nothing in return.
Their actions the last six months have done nothing but tell me that they're struggling, rightfully so. They clearly want to lose customers. I honestly hope they crash and burn. PLEASE DON'T GET THIS CARD.

This credit card company is a nightmare! I used the card only twice, never online and had fraudulent charges added to my account totaling over $3,000. They proceeded to tell me that the purchases were suspicious but needed to investigate further. They refused to remove the amount until their investigation was complete. I received an email from them stating they are increasing the credit card rate to 36% and adding an annual fee, which I never agreed to upon opening the account because I never apply for cards with annual fees. It mentioned at the bottom of the letter that I could disagree with the terms and still pay off my balance. I called and was informed that closing the credit card will now affect my credit and leave me in bad standing with them, even if I pay the balance off. All this time, I've been building my credit just to have corporate greed ruin it. Do not use this company! They are a disaster.

We were charged late fees on charges that were fraudulent: $140.82 from Wingstop and $110.90 from Round Table Pizza. We have never been to either one; these are not located in our area. I have sent many letters and calls to Aspire Credit Card. Never will we use this card again; they argue without reason.

Please do not apply for this credit card. They have very poor communication skills. They froze my account without notice. When contacting them, they told me it was due to unusual activity. If you really need a credit card, please do not apply for this one.

If I could give it zero stars, I would! This is a horrible card. I made my payment on the same day it was due, and they still assessed me a late charge. I have been home sick, and it had slipped my mind, but I still made it on the same day, and they still charged me. I would not recommend this card to anyone! Please, if you can get a card somewhere else, do so!

I am not giving any stars to this company since they don’t deserve it not one bit. I had the Aspire credit card for at least two years now and I know for a fact that it should be paid off by now and I had a 0% interest on it and a 15.9% APR. and my monthly payment was $23.60 a month and that is what I was paying and then I started paying $28 a month just to help but Aspire kept on saying that I haven’t been making my payments and that is a lie when I have been and I only missed one payment since my bank account was hacked into and that was the reason why I wasn’t able to pay and I did let them know that as well and I did let them know that I was laid off and on disability as well but they didn’t really care one bit plus all they have been telling me is nothing but lies plus they put me on one of there programs and that isn’t that isn’t working either and that is a lie as well !!!!!!!
