I wanted to cancel my Credit One card because I just don't want or need it. However, their horrible customer service unit refuses to cancel the card. Instead, they give me 25,000 reasons to keep the card.

As some others have mentioned, a good card for rebuilding credit. I received a pre-approval email with an $800 CL and $0 annual fee in April 2023 after having two other accts with Credit One for the last 4 years, as they were all I could get at the time they were opened. I just started seriously rebuilding this year and still wasn't yet educated enough about the ins and outs of the world of credit cards and accepted. I never used it very often but my CL was raised to $1000 after I called and told them I had an offer for a *real* American Express card (which I did and now have). Never experienced it being declined, but all Credit One cards take forever to post payments, update credit limits, etc. And yes, their customer service can be challenging, but I have gotten some supervisors (after being transferred by agents who really can't make any decisions) who seemed to genuinely want to keep my business and have both raised my CL and given me six month low APR offers (hey, it beats the regular 29%+ regular one. Note: They're certainly better than their lookalike competition, Capital One, who have refused for months to increase my $600 CL after two years. If not for the credit history I'd cancel that account yesterday. Back to the Cap One Amex: Good card for average credit and to build some history. I wouldn't purchase anything pricey on it due to the APR, but otherwise one could do a lot worse.

Would love to give NO stars! Constantly getting declined for no reason. Oh wait, I forgot, the agent on the phone tried to tell me my card keeps getting declined due to the pending transactions on my account from adding the card to Google pay and my Walmart account. So, beware! No verification transactions allowed! Oh yeah and it seems no digital wallets allowed either, no peer to peer transfer apps, no moving money off of it anywhere but an ATM. That's a big IF it will even work at the ATM! Bunch of fraudsters!

Most ghetto credit card I've ever had the misfortune of owning. Everything is a charge. Want a credit line increase? Pay $10. want to talk to customer service? Pay $4.95 to talk to someone in India with an accent so heavy you can't understand them. They're also condescending and rude. I had an issue while traveling and had problems with charges on the card. Their customer service person couldn't figure anything out. I literally had to pull out a calculator and add up the carges with her like she was a kindergarten student.
I haven't been able to log into my online account for over a year because there's an error with the username and no one in their website tech support team can figure it out.
Interest rates are god awful.
I submitted a payment through the phone number, since I can't log into my account, only to find out it wasn't paid. This is because their automated phone payment system defaults to a checking account I haven't used in TWO YEARS and not the one they automatically withdraw from every month!
I have two other cards through Cap 1 and Discover without all the ridiculous issues that come with this one. The only reason I keep it open is because it's my oldest trade line. Otherwise I would cancel it in 10 seconds.
They're lecherous thieves that don't care about their customers and are just praying on people desperate for a credit card. My advice would be to stay as far away as possible!

The card comes with an annual fee they said it didn't have, but it does, so I'm not sure if I'll ever use it or if I'll even keep it.

Good enough card for building credit, although I do have some gripes.
Firstly, I got the card 23 months ago, and was approved for a $800 limit with fair credit. I did charge it up almost to the full balance over about 8 months, and then gradually paid it off to $0 every month for the last 3 months. I feel like now that it is paid off, charges take even longer to show as pending on my account, charges take longer to post to my account, and some charges are being declined which has never happened before. I'm talking $25 charges from Amazon, which are typical for me to make on this card are being declined for no apparent reason.
My theory is that now that Credit One is not making a ton of interest off of my account, things are becoming not so smooth. Side note - my credit has gone up 60-70 points since I've had the card (on time payments on my other cards, increased limits, lower balances), but Credit One has not given me a credit increase on the card at all. Not sure if I am at the max limit for this card, but I would think that a credit score increase, no late payments, and fully paying off the card for the last 3 months would make me eligible, who knows.
My overall rating - 3 out of 5. This is a good credit building card. Just know the following:
In general, it does take a long time for charges to show up as pending, and post to your account. Payments also take a long time to post to your account. Not necessarily a deal breaker, just something to be aware of.
Their website is extremely wonky. It's constantly spitting out errors when you're trying to perform common functions like view your bill, make a payment etc.
It's one of my highest interest cards, which again is to be expected, but know that right off the bat, they will take you to the cleaners with interest if you are not paying down your balance to $0 every month.
When used responsibly, and by a diligent person this card can be a good tool for rebuilding credit, but it's not my favorite card nor would I highly recommend this card versus others out there.

If I could mark this as 0 stars I would. I called in concerns to a payment they incorrectly marked as late and after a few verification questions, they said that someone declared me as dead! I’m 34 and am not dead. They told me that I couldn’t do anything about it other than pay it off. They put a hold on my card and I’m still paying it off so it isn’t a bad mark on my credit report. I don’t want to close it. STAY AWAY!!! The call center seemed shady!!!!

Bait & Switch. I was offered this card with a reasonable credit limit and the opportunity to earn cash back. According to my cc agreement, cash back rewards would be 5% of eligible mobile phone, internet, cable/satellite TV providers, gas & groceries for the first $5k within the first 12 months. I’d earn rewards of 1% for everything else. Less than one month later after using the card to pay for my phone & internet, I learn they’re ineligible for ANY cash back, let alone the 5% but they can’t tell me why. Another purchase ineligible, but they can’t tell me why - thats 3 purchases in <30 days all ineligible for rewards they offered me when I opened the card. Trying to get these answers took 2.5 hours when representatives from outside the US insisted that redeeming the rewards was the same as receiving them.
I had a Credit One cc card years ago, closed it because of nonsense like this. Should have stuck with my gut and refused the offer I was presented. They haven’t changed one bit.

I pay it every month but somehow, I'm always spending more then I actually do. If I make a $25 purchase, it's actually a $30 purchase. I haven't spent on my credit card in a long time because some how, I always over my limit. DO NOT get this card.
