Citibank Credit Cards

Citibank (a CardHub advertising partner) issued its first credit card -- the "Everything" card -- in 1967 under the corporate banner of First National City Bank. The company now attempts to live up to that legacy with a full line of credit cards available to consumers across the credit spectrum, including students, small business owners and general-consumers. These so-called Citicards also offer a range of rewards as well as 0% rates on purchases or balance transfers, and they’re currently available on the Visa, MasterCard and American Express card networks. However, the more interesting subplot here is the fact that…show more

Please, anyone out there, do not get this card. My good friend had this card since 1993 and always paid her bills on time, but when the moment came where she needed help, Citi card was not there for her. I am making it my mission to let everyone know the hard time she experienced with this card (there are a million better cards out there than this one.)

My friend racked up a lot of rewards points and used them to partially pay for a flight to her home country. Nearing her flight date, she put her house on the market and surprisingly it sold in one day. The people buying the house wanted to move in very quickly and her trip would cause her elderly husband to handle all the moving by himself, which was impossible. We called Citi right away and was redirected to MULTIPLE places. the airlines, back to citi, this department, that department, back to the airlines again. Not to mention, my friend had insurance for trips through the rewards points that was supposed to “protect” her through situations like this. Nope. FINALLY, we figured out what we needed to do. We did it, then she got in a letter with a negative balance. Whew, one month of work finally paid off. Just kidding, they charged her card with the cost of the flight because she was supposed to receive a letter that she needed to sign and mail back confirming she wanted the money more

DO NOT get a Citibank credit card. No wonder they are being flooded with fines and lawsuits and complaints. The customer service agent lied (despite my asking him to verify what he was saying with a supervisor) and when I asked them to find the recorded conversation I had with the agent, they "couldn't locate" it. I gave them two reasonable options to fix the problem and they refused both. I needed to fly in and out of JFK so I switched to Citibank/ American Airlines after being very happy with United/ Chase. Bad decision. I am a diligent and informed consumer so this is shocking to me. I am going to close the account after I find every website available to warn others about this.

I used to use the Citibank Forward exclusively when I was in college and it was a fantastic first credit card. It gave me a $500 limit with no credit history and allowed me to build up my credit score. APR was a bit high but goes down every year. It also has a decent rewards system. One thing that I really have to compliment is their online banking system. Always worked promptly without any issues at all.

I have two Citibank cards. I got both of them when they were offering 0% on balance transfers for a period of time. I have been happy with them overall. The rates are reasonable after the offer period and their mobile apps make payments quick and easy. They had long 0% periods, I believe 18 months, which really help cut down some debt while making essentially the same payment as I was before I transferred the balances. Balance transfer cards are all that I apply for anymore because I am trying to save myself some interest, and I recommend Citibank to anyone looking for such a card. I have not had to make any calls to customer service, so I can't comment on that end of their business.

I have the Citi Diamond Preferred Card. It's been very useful for me. It was the first credit card I've ever gotten and I haven't switched since. I, too, get Thank You points on my purchases. I haven't had any problems. If I have had a question, I just call customer service and the friendly people there help me out a lot. I would highly recommend this card, especially for first time credit card holders.

I have a Citibank Thank You Preferred credit card. Not only does it have no annual fee, but I get Citibank Thank you points whenever I use the card to make purchases. I also get double points on dining and entertainment purchases which is great because I do often go to the cinema to watch lots of movies, even if I don't dine out all that much. I can use the Thank You points to redeem cash rewards and I also link my Citibank Thank You Preferred credit card to my Amazon.com which enables me to use my Thank You points to buy stuff on Amazon.com, which I love because I do most of my shopping on Amazon.com.

Currently I use a Citibank credit card as one of my cards. Personally Citibank has been one of the easiest companies to work with. They offer great customer support and the card works nearly everywhere. Only once was I unable to use my card. But it was because of the store I was at not the card.
