Questions about a credit card that I am thinking of applying for:

I need additional info
To learn more about a credit card featured on this site, click on either the 'More Details' link or on the "Apply Now" button, next to that credit card.

  • The 'More Details' page is a summary page of all the important information that we believe one should be aware of before applying for a credit card.
    • We work very hard to present you with the most accurate information, however, information is not guaranteed.
    • Before applying for a credit card we strongly advise that you verify the credit card terms and conditions on the credit card issuer's web site. Please let us know if you find any differences.
  • Clicking on the "Apply Now" button does not obligate you to apply in any way. It simply redirects you to the credit card company's web site, where you will find all the information on the card's terms and conditions.

I need help with certain terms
You should be able to find help for most terms by clicking on the 'More Details' link next to each credit card and then clicking on the question mark next to the terms that you need more clarification. Alternatively you can also find more help on our Credit Card Help Center.

I got my credit report and there are errors. How can I fix them?
In order to dispute items in your credit report please follow the credit report dispute steps.

Is my application secure?
We only partner with credit card issuers whose online credit application forms are secured by 128-bit SSL encryption. SSL technology encodes information as it is being sent over the Internet, helping to ensure that the information transmitted remains confidential. Please review our Security Policy.

Can I apply via the phone?
Unfortunately no. Just online.

Do I need to be a US Citizen to apply for a credit card?
No. You do not have to be a US Citizen to apply for a credit card. All credit card offers featured on our site require applicants to have a valid Social Security Number.

Questions about a credit card that I recently applied for:

What is my Application Status?
The credit card company determines whether a credit card application gets approved or denied. This usually takes anywhere from a couple of minutes (instant approval) to 2 weeks. Credit card companies are required to provide notification of both approvals and denials.

Once you are approved, delivery of the credit card may take an aditional 2 weeks (from our experience it is usually faster than that). Contact the credit card company directly for more information.

I changed my mind about a recent credit card application:
Once you submit an application, there is nothing you can do, in most cases, from stopping the credit card company from processing your application. However, it's always worth a try. Click here for the telephone directory of all major credit card companies.

In the event that you are not able to cancel your application then you should not activate your card when it comes in the mail and instead you should call your credit card company and ask them to immediately close your account. In most cases credit card companies will waive any assessed fees as long as you have never activated your card

Questions about a credit card that I already have:

All questions should be directed to your credit card company. You can find their number by looking on the back of your credit card or you can also use our telephone directory.
