How do you get the gas station rewards?

You will automatically earn 2 points per $1 spent at gas stations (up to $150 spent per billing period) when using this card. In other words, if you charge $30 of gas to this card, 60 points will be added to your overall rewards balance, along with points earned in other purchase categories. You can use your card immediately after receiving it in the mail and activating it. It will take between 7-10 business days to get your new credit card. Best of luck!

What's the minimum credit score you need to get approved?

The baseline minimum score needed to qualify for the Academy Sports + Outdoors Credit Card is 660, which is the bottom of the “good” credit range. With that being said, just having a credit score at or above that number does not guarantee you of approval. Issuers take a variety of other factors into account, including your income and existing debt obligations. Still, getting your free credit score from our sister site WalletHub ( ) will give you a good sense of your odds. Best of luck!

The Academy Credit Card offers a lot of perks from the moment you sign up such as the initial $15 off your purchase and it keeps giving you points for extended use. I also like the fact that you can use this card for in-store and online as well. The Cabela's Credit Card requires you to complete 5 purchases for a similar initial reward. In addition, you also get a $25 gift card for every 2500 points (5 points for every $1 spent in the store) which is very convenient. Overall, this card offers many features, a low interest rate, and low or non-existent annual fee for regular Academy customers with good credit score.

The Academy Credit Card looks great with an initial bonus of $15 simply for using the card. The two levels of rewards are also nice with the possibility to earn between one and five points per dollar. The ability to earn gift cards is nice as well, especially if you are an outdoors person. The cash advance fee is high though the actual interest rate is low. Overall, I think that this card could use better benefits, especially if you have good credit. I think that this would be a great card if you have less than perfect credit, but if you have good credit, there are other good cards more

If you are a sporting enthusiast and make a lot of purchases with Academy, the Academy Credit Card is actually a great credit card for you. 5 points per dollar is great and above the standard double points, and you get a $15 gift card just for opening an account which is a great bonus. Every 2500 points nets you a $25 gift card also. One thing that most cards from stores do not have but this does, is a 0% APR for 12 months. That alone makes it worth keeping the card if you shop at Academy. Interest rates after the first 12 months are decent too.

The Academy Credit Card seems like a pretty good piece of debt plastic if you are a sporting goods aficionado, as the centerpiece of the rewards program is a sporting goods store. Even if sporting goods is of no interest to you, the Academy Credit Card is still pretty decent, with a generous grace period, somewhat lower interest than many other store-issued credit cards such as the JCPenney card I've had for years, and plenty of additional features. The cashback rewards ratio is kind of low, however, and the highly-specialized nature of the rewards program means that some would be better off with a general card featuring a variety of more

As far as reward/store cards go, the Academy Credit Card is actually a good offering for people who frequent Academy Sports. This is a full-featured card that even allows those with good credit histories to have a decent rate, unlike other gas card/store offed cards out there (IKEA comes to mind at 25.99%). On top of a solid reward program, there is even a balance transfer fee that is in line with non-reward cards, along with an intro program with surpasses all but the best, at a full year of zero percent on both balance transfers and regular purchases. Bravo to Academy for making a solid offering to their customers, more

I'll be honest, I don't buy a ton of sporting goods. I do enjoy fishing, and sometimes I'll pick up the occasional running shirt or workout gloves, but I'm not shopping at Academy that often. Lets run through the rewards, because to me, that's what's most important. With the Academy Credit Card, you get 1 point per dollar spent, unless it's at Academy and you're buying sporting goods, but there's only so many soccer balls I need. You get a $25 certificate to Academy for 2,500 points, or $2500, which works out to 1% cashback. Now, with the TrueEarnings card from Costco/American Express, you get 3% cashback on gas, which more

Just to add something to this.....its 5 points per dollar spent at academy and it's 1 dollar per point spent anywhere else. If you ask me that's pretty good. Especially if you shop there a lot.

I'm a sports fanatic, so I love the fact that a store I would buy from has a reward card like this. I love the fact that they offer $15 immediately when opening an account either online or in-store, that's a great incentive to at least go ahead and try it out. While the 1 dollar per 1 point may be a little low, I can easily see myself making many purchases at this store and making the card worth while. I also like that the intro rate starts at 0% for 12 months. Very good deal and I will most definitely look into getting this card soon.

And the Academy Award goes to…Oh, different Academy. Sorry, I guess I’m still in Oscar mode from last night and it’d be more fitting to ask who the Academy REWARD goes to. I mean, is the Academy Credit Card a good deal for consumers or would you have to give yourself a Razzie for getting it? Let’s take a look. Starting with rewards, the Academy Credit Card offers 1,000 bonus points after yoru first purchase, 5 points per $1 spent at Academy Sports + Outdoors, and 1 point per $1 spent on everything else. Since yuou get a $25 Academy Sports + Outdoors gift card for every 25,000 points you more
