You can no longer apply for the Ace Hardware Credit Card.
If you're interested in applying for other hardware cards, I'd suggest the Lowe's Store Card, offering 5% cash back on all purchases and $0 annual fee.
You can apply for the Lowe's Store Card online, but you can get 20% off in case you apply in one of the Lowe's stores.
To get approved, you need to have at least a fair credit score.
Don't forget, that an application results in a hard inquiry on your credit report, which will temporarily affect your score.
You can no longer apply for the Ace Hardware Credit Card. It was a card designed for people with good credit, so a score of 700 was the minimum required.

Well, Well, I've had an Ace Rewards visa for years. Was a Great card for shopping at Ace Stores where I regularly spent $3000 - $10000/mo. Then Ace let their agreement with Visa Card Bank go bad! Now no more Ace Rewards, Sad state of affairs for a retail giant like Ace not to have a Branded Reward card in this day and age when most All retail stores and more offer Store Branded cards. I will be looking for a Retail store that Appreciates my Business more in the future... Get On The Ball Ace!!!

If I could give this card a negative rating I would. I signed up for this card when I bought $8,000 worth of products in December 2013. I figured at 0% interest for 6 months and a bit of cash back it would be a good deal...boy was I mistaken.
I work out of state, so signed up for electronic billing. Never got an email about my first payment being late, couldn't access my account without my card number, which I couldn't get since that was in my mail at the house.
Long story short, I've paid the card off in 4 months, but not after being charged 3 months worth of late fees over a silly $30 minimum payment on a $8,000 purchase...even after explaining what the issue was, I was simply told there was nothing they could do.
They also dinged my credit score with a 30 day late payment, and they tell me they are sorry and cannot remove it, which dropped my credit score 24 points.
I've cancelled my card, and will not being doing business with U.S. bank ever again. I'll stick with USAA from now on, and the rewards programs can be damned. Not worth the headache.
Really, really unhappy about this whole situation.

This is a good card, the application process was pretty straight forward, and I received my card a couple weeks later. No annual fee is always a good thing in my book. The rewards program is extremely handy, as I gas up for work everyday. 2% cash back on gas adds up pretty quickly. If your a handyman, or just visit ACE on occasion, you get 5% back. I try to pay my cards off every month, and they offer a grace period before interest accrues, so that makes this a stellar card in my opinion.

If you are into home improvements or working on things similar to that as a hobby or something the Ace Rewards Credit Card is a major help because you are definitely visiting Ace stores frequently then, so why not take advantage of these great offers? With no annual fee it's basically free anyways. Getting 10% back on quarterly popular categories and 5% always on Ace purchases it'll be buying that new baby room for you. Not to mention the 2% back on gas and groceries which you're always going to be buying and 1% in Rewards everywhere else Visa is accepted which is EVERYWHERE. This thing is priceless. Even if you aren't into handiwork Ace has almost everything you could need for electronics accessories and many other things. It's a great store and this is a great card.

We've been spending a lot of time at Ace Hardware recently to help my mom with her new house. I finally decided to get an Ace card to start taking advantage of the points. So far, no complaints whatsoever. I understand other cards do give you rewards for more than just the place it came from, but since I'm using the card only at Ace, it makes sense that the rewards are directed towards the store. So far I figure I've saved around $20 which isn't too bad at all. I pay it off each month and that's that. Overall, I've had a great experience with not only Ace Hardware, but the card (and the reward points) as well. Very glad I got it.

If you’re in the construction industry or love to do home projects, an Ace Credit Card could be for you. Before we get ahead of ourselves though, you shouldn’t just apply for an Ace Card because you sometimes shop at Ace or have been meaning to tackle this or that. You should get it if Ace purchases represent one of your biggest expenses. Why? Because the Ace Credit Card’s rewards are primarily Ace-oriented and you want to have rewards credit cards that allow you to maximize your perks, both in terms of overall value and how often you benefit. See, the Ace Credit Card offers 3 points per $1 spent at Ace stores (plus an extra 2 points per $1 if you spend above $12,000 in a year), 2 points per dollar spent on gas and groceries, and 1 point per $1 on everything else. You also get a $10 bonus for opening your Ace Credit Card. Unfortunately, you can only redeem Ace Credit Card points for Ace store credit and points are redeemable at a rate of only 0.2% (12,500 points = $25 at an Ace store). Given that these rewards are uncompetitive as well as limiting in terms of redemption and since you also don’t get a 0% introductory rate on either purchases or transfers with the Ace Card, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where the ACE Credit Card is a good choice).
Therefore you need some alternatives. If you want a card that gives you a good cash back rate across all purchases, the Capital One Cash Card is a good offer. If you want a card offering extra on gas and groceries, the Blue Cash Everyday Card is not only more rewarding than the Ace Credit Card, but it’s also more straightforward. A number of cards also offer 5% cash back on rotating spending categories, which may include home improvement.
