BBVA Compass ClearPoints is a decent card, but it depends how you use it.
On one hand, it is more affordable than the average low interest rate card and offers a long introductory period on balance transfers and new purchases (0% for 13 months), though also a higher-than-average balance transfer fee (4% (min $10)).
On the other hand, it has a modest sign up bonus ($100 statement credit to new cardholders who manage to spend $1,500 in the...
If you're looking to apply for a points credit card, then consider the PNC Points Visa® Credit Card, instead. This card offers 4 points per $1 spent on purchases and has a $0 annual fee.
You can also check the best points credit cards picked by our editors, to see which one better suits your needs.
The BBVA Compass ClearPoints Credit Card's intro APR offer is 0% for 13 months for purchases, and 0% for 13 months for balance transfers.
This means that you won't be charged interest for your purchases or balance transfers made during this period. That being said, the BBVA Compass ClearPoints Credit Card is ideal for financing a bigger purchase, or for transferring a balance from a credit card with a higher APR.

I have 17 credit cards. BBVA is the worst. It isn’t even close. Absolutely abysmal customer service. Customer service number always a 30 min wait and agents never speak English a first language. Want your hair to turn grey? Go with BBVA!

This used to be a BBVA ClearPoints Card but PNC bought BBVA and they are changing me to their Points Signature Visa Card even though I asked for their better cash rewards card (told me I would need to apply again to get the one I want). The BBVA card was 3% cash back on most of my purchases plus they sent me really nice bonus offers. The PNC card gives you lots of points but the points are virtually worthless. I don’t need 1/4 of 1 cent per dollar spent rewards card. I don’t even like points cards (The BBVA one was named clearpoints but you could get cash back). I’m going to buy something for about 25 cents a month to keep the card open so I don’t lose the account but that’s it. I’m also closing my soon to be transferred over checking and savings account with PNC. BBVA’s accounts were free but not PNC. Very bad first impression.

No way to report fraud after hours (after calling numerous contact numbers I got an agent who transferred me back to the automated phone tree). Points expire after a year so it is hard to redeem if this is not your primary card.

This company simply provides the worst customer service of any company I have ever interacted with. As well, they charge very high fees, such as $37 per statement if you would like a simple copy of any statement older than 36 months and $22-$27 for statements between 12 and 36 months old. All other credit card companies offer free copies of statements from almost any time period.
The poor reviews I've read here are accurate. While they do offer credit cards at competitive rates, the customer service agents are rude, vague, uncaring and incompetent; they offer inaccurate information which changes from agent to agent. I've also been told a "manager" would call me back to resolve my issue at least 5 times, as the manager is in a "meeting" and can't speak with me at the moment. I have not once received a phone call from any "manager." In addition, there seems to be no complaints department, as I was once transferred there, only to find myself at a strange computerized menu which was meaningless. Another time when I was "transferred," I was out on hold for 45 minutes before hanging up.
In sum, this company offers barebones service for a competitively rated card. Their service department is pathetic, and if you do have an issue, it will NEVER be resolved. I would advise to go with a different card - stay away from this one. It really is not worth it.

The card itself isn't bad. However, the customer service is AWFUL. When I call the general phone number on the back of the card, I get put on a long hold if i don't opt into the survey. And then they almost always transfer me to the fraud department where I'm on hold for a minimum of 45 min. I got told my card would be unblocked after a 10 day period and that has not happened. So I am again getting bounced around between people and on hold forever. Also, the recording talks about how they have an award winning app, but I think the app is awful and confusing to navigate.

Exceptionally bad and unprofessional customer service. Always paid my balance in full, never missed a payment, except one single time when the statement was lost in the mail due to COVID. Contacted them as soon as I realized I had missed a payment (there was never a courtesy call, text or email notification of the past due balance). I was willing to pay the balance right then, was promised the late fee would be reversed, which never has happened. The representatives were rude and seemed incompetent. Bad experience overall. There are plenty of other decent credit card companies with similar or better rewards programs, no need to be subjected to this.

I wish they had a no star rating. One hour plus on hold every time there was an issue requiring phone contact.

Having me on the phone with nothing to do, forcing me to do this review. And I do not do do reviews for anything in general! They're good at getting a review out of you.

Over the phone customer service is God awful. The rudest most unprofessional people I have ever experienced. After being on hold for about an hour, the customer representative hung up on me. When I called back the recording told me they were closed, very unprofessional not wanting to help at all. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS NOT WORTH IT!

Has to be the absolute worst customer service department. My card was blocked while traveling. I spent 1 hour an 38 minutes of aggregated time on hold, over three separate attempts, trying to get the block cleared. Still no resolution. The value of a card company is not the card or line of credit, they alll do that. The value is in in having a strong customer relations department that can resolve the occasional issues. BBVA does not have that.
