Though you shouldn’t get it if you just stayed there once or once in blue moon, the Best Western Credit Card COULD be right for you if you spend 20+ nights at Best Western on an annual basis. It really depends on what the card offers and how much you’d save by using it relative to other credit cards though. First of all the Best Western Card requires good or excellent credit for approval, so just understand that before we get too deep into analyzing it. Starting with rewards, the Best Western Credit Card offers 10,000 bonus points after your first purchase or withdrawal (you get an extra 5,000 points for transferring a balance within 30 days), 15 points for every $1 you spend at Best Western, and 1 point for every $1 spent everywhere else. That all sounds pretty good but how much are Best Western Credit Card points worth? Well, you can get a free night with 8,000 rewards points, so your initial bonus will get you one, as will spending $533 at Best Western. Since rates start at around $80, for every 4-6 or so nights you put on a Best Western Credit Card, you get one free night. Moving to rates and fees, the Best Western Card has no annual fee and offers 0% on balance transfers for 6 months. In this regard, the BestWestern Credit Card isn’t all that great since a number of other cards offer 0% on purchases and transfers for up 18 months and also do not have annual fees. Overall though, the Best Western Hotel Credit Card is a good option for brand loyal Best Western customers, but if you don’t stay there that often, you need alternatives. If you want a card with generic hotel rewards, the Chase Sapphire Card offers $625 in hotel accommodations and airfare as an initial bonus. If you want travel rewards, the Capital One Venture Card is basically a 2% cash back credit card as long as you redeem miles for anything travel related. If you want a low rate, Citi offers three cards with 0% on purchases and transfers for 18 months. Any of these cards would be better for the average user than the Best Western Credit Card.
