Cabela's Credit Card Reviews
If you have a Cabela's Club VISA - be very very careful.
If you ever have a dispute with any online merchant, you will be responsible regardless of the reasons! If you are frauded; if you do not receive your merchandise; if you are overcharged - TOO BAD - according to Cabela's.
They will make a standard inquiry and possibly the merchant will comply. But if not, Cabela's will not be there to protect you.
They claim "100% Fraud Protection" well yeah as long as you are not frauded!
According to the Fraud Department that I filed a claim with at Cabela's Visa,
if the merchant doesn't voluntarily return your money, there is nothing they can do to help.
Their Fraud Protection only works if the merchant is willing to work with them. Otherwise - TOO BAD !
If you have a Cabela's Credit card, get rid of it.
I have had a Visa with Cabela's for almost 15 years. I have participated in all their extra Protection Programs, such as the Falcon Program. You cannot use your card out of state or even out of your local area within your state without notifying them, Otherwise the purchase will be rejected.
I have been in perfect standing with them the entire time.
But now I have been frauded by a merchant and OH WELL, nothing they can do. Or more appropriately, nothing they will do!
Their Guarantee's are nothing more than Selling Tools!
Their trust within the community is baseless! Their attitudes when an issue arises is at best Threatening towards their card holders. At worst, Ignorant and Nasty with a complete dismissal of any care about you as a customer or card holder.
Sometimes I pay a little more with them because of the security. Now I know I would be more secure paying cash and hoping for the best.
After what I was just told in their explanation why they will not help any further, well I truly believe I would be safer wearing a bright American Flag jacket carrying a wad of cash and walking down the middle of the street in any nation that hates American's, than I would be during any further business with Cabela's.
I will use the rest of my Cabela's Club points and then cancel my card. I will take a heavy hit on my credit score; my first negative mark on any credit card or on my credit in general in my entire life; for cancelling a card that I have held for so long. But I believe that it is in my best interest to do this. The damage that Cabela's has caused is irreversible!
I will seek legal counsel not only against this merchant but also against Cabela's themselves. Not only are their claims nothing more than Sales tools and Baseless words, but I fully believe that the process that I went through with their Fraud department was against my rights and abusive towards me!
It is unbelievable that this company can exist this way.
Het but this is the USA, big monopolies that simply don't care about the individual. Have a problem "SCR*W YOU" we have plenty more customers.
Good thing I like to write. Because I will be doing a lot of it. They are a big company and it will take a while to hurt their sales but they "effectively" stole my money and I want it back !!!!!
The merchant was a fraud, I fell into an online Memorial Day Sales event.
I bought 2 cameras. I had 3 companies with a $60 savings and then this company with a $100 savings. (Weekend Special only) I was a bit rushed and let my usual thorough research slip a little. My fault, yes, but this is why we use credit cards with fraud protection, right?
That company, I now know, doesn't deserve to be in business.

Also if you buy from them, 2 things will happened. Your credit card will be charged significantly more than you agree to, and good luck getting what you paid for! Also your credit card will be charged by moreforless.com with no explanation.
But it is my opinion that Cabela's also does not deserve to be in business based on their handling of this situation!
Their prices are only marginally better, their selection (at least for what I use) is not as good as in the past, they have grown to large and bought out too many smaller companies.
But this is our way of life now. Monopolies, big business and big government.
Well, why did Cabela's start: to provide a store for outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, fisherman and woman, all things outdoors. What have they become - just another monopolized business in it for the money!

You get a nice initial bonus, a low interest rate (even on the higher end of it's variability), no annual fee, and good point rewards if you're a regular customer. It also has a low foreign transaction fee percentage which can be a lifesaver if you travel often and find yourself in a pinch.
Compare this to say the Walmart Store Card. You get more bonus points than you can through Walmart, no fuel discounts though, and a lower interest rate. It's a bit of a toss-up but I'd recommend this card if you shop at Cabella's a lot.

The only extra benefit that would be nice would be 0% APR on big purchases for a certain term (6 months or so).
If you shop at Cabela's frequently and would benefit from the rewards, this card could be a great option! Maybe I can finally get that crossbow I've had my eye on...… more
The rewards would be attractive for those shopping at cabella's.
The part that seems unattractive is a high APR.
Also, a lot of credit cards now have introductory rate. This one, however, does not.
