The “Cache” in Cache Credit Card refers to the store by that name, but what you have to figure out in deciding whether to apply for the Cache Card is whether it’ll lead to you garnering a cache, i.e. a treasure trove, a store of valuables. Let’s start with what the Cache Credit Card offers. In return for the good or excellent credit it takes to get it, the Cache Card gives you 5% off all purchases at Cache or Cache Luxe stores and on cache.com, 5 points per $1 spent at Cache and Cache Luxe stores, 1 point per $1 spent everywhere else, and 1,000 bonus points after your first purchase. It doesn’t offer 0% intro rates on either purchases or balance transfers. It’s therefore pretty clear that the Cache Credit Card is a good option for people who spend a fair amount every month at Cache stores. Everyone else wouldn’t get enough value from the card to warrant application. Before anyone applies though, its important to note that the Cache Credit Card is a No Preset Spending Limit (NPSL) card, which means that you won’t ever know what your spending limit is and might incur credit score damage at no fault of your own as a result of the way issuers report credit utilization for these cards to the credit bureau. If you were on the fence about whether or not to get the Cache Credit Card, this might be the deciding factor. In terms of alternatives, the Blue Cash Everyday Card is a good option because it gives you 3% cash back at supermarkets, 2% at gas stations and department stores and 1% on everything else. The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card also gives you a $500 bonus for spending $3,000 during the first three months.
