Capital One® Cash Rewards for Newcomers Reviews
I would like to mention a comparison card so that you may see why I just do not feel that this is the best way to start building credit. The Washington Federal Visa Signature Bonus Rewards Card is a card that rewards with points: redeem the points for cash at 1%, on your first purchase, they actually give you 2500 bonus points, which is a value of $ 25.00. The points can be used for 5 years, unlimited point accumulation, and an additional 25% Bonus rewards on your points per month. The limits on the redemption of your points, however, begins at 2500 points, which is a cash back reward of $25, and also the points have a limit on airfare tickets at a cap of $ 325, which also needs to be round-trip.
The cash advance fee is also at 3%, which I do not like, but they still beat Capital One by making the minimum fee at $ 5.00.
This card also has a 6 month 0.00% APR, versus the automatic 29.4% with Capital One. After that, it is 9.99%-20.99%. Since we want to compare fairly, I would recommend a newcomer to be given the highest percent at 20.99%, which still far outdoes 29.4%.
Now, if Capital One Newcomers card would match the monthly 25% bonus on points/rewards, and also allow the 6 month introductory offer, then I would be more inclined to consider signing on. They need to do a little better, especially these days.
So, I would prefer the Visa Card over the Master Card. I would think that I am getting better treatment, all around. Look around. There are cards for everyone.… more
What I probably appreciated most (especially since I am in no way financially/mathematically gifted and most credit card agreements sound like a foreign language to me) was how the Capital One people I talked to went to great lengths to make sure I understood what I was signing on for.
Well, my credit is getting better, and I haven't missed a payment yet, so I'd say I'm pretty satisfied. I'll be keeping my CapOne card around for a while, and I would recommend it to anyone I knew who was looking to sign up for a new card.… more
My card was stolen about 6 months ago. I called Capital One to report the card as stolen and, again, the representative that I spoke with was very helpful and patient. My card was immediately canceled and I received my new card very quickly. They also offered further assistance and asked me to please call back if I had any other problems. I have since had my husband apply and would gladly recommend Capital One to anyone!… more
