The Capital One Platinum Credit Card is... it's okay. The card doesn't offer rewards which is a big letdown for a credit card. Also the APR% is 24%, going up to 29% when late. Come on, at least tack some rewards on there for us or else people are just going to not use the Capital One Platinum Credit Card at all, and choose another card. There aren't too many other good bonuses with this card, but I can say that Capital One does keep my information safe and sound, all the time through everything that's been going on with Target and Heartbleed.

I used this card to pay down some of my debt. I liked that I could pick my due date, that helps when your trying to make sure everything gets paid in a timely fashion. I like that I got to personalize my card online, my daughter loves the design. The customer service has been great whenever I have called it, and the app is handy. An overall good card that I would recommend, my only gripe is the annual fee after the first year. I've never been a fan of those.

I really like this credit card! Now, I know that it doesn't offer any rewards and it doesn't really have "impressive" features, but it offers me all I need in a credit card! I would absolutely recommend it as a first or starting credit card. It offers a 25 day grace period which is slightly longer than most cards and you can personalize it online for free with your favorite picture.

I have had positive experiences with this card as well. I love how I can personalize it and make it really feel like it's mine.

I have had my Capital 1 Platinum card for a couple of years, and it's a pretty decent card for the most part. The interest rate is a little higher than some of my other credit cards, but it wasn't as hard to get either. The customer service and convenience this card offers is very good. This is a great card for someone who's trying to establish credit.

I've had the Capital One Platinum card for years. I had no trouble adding my husband to the account after we were married. I've had the card for so long, the yearly fee back then was $25. I used to call them every year to ask for the fee to be waived, which they did do. After several years of doing that, one customer service person finally said they would attach a permanent note to my account, waiving the fee indefinitely. Nice benefit! I've never had the card be denied anywhere. And...just recently, I uploaded a favorite picture of my dog to be put on the card! That's a real more

The Capital One Platinum card is hit and miss with me but for the most part it's a good card. I appreciate the fact that you can get this card even if your credit is a little rough around the edges. It's pretty customer friendly with roadside assistance, insurance etc. I wish it offered more in the way of rewards, and the interest rate is really high considering the utter lack of frills. But if you're just looking for a basic credit card, you could do a lot worse. If you would like a similar deal with more rewards, the Capital One Quicksilver Rewards card has similar rates but also more

Capital One generally offers good credit cards but this card has a couple features which I do not like. The 24.9% interest rate is very high and after the 1st yr there is a $19 annual fee. On the plus side, the Capital One Platinum card is available to people who may not be able to get a card anywhere else. Compared to the annual fee on the Citibank card I used to have, this card is very reasonable. I would recommend the card as long as you use it responsibly and pay it off each month.

It's a good card, regardless of the fact there aren't any points or extra benefits. It's my first credit card so I'm glad I was approved at all. I have fair credit but not much of a credit history and I had been rejected for one other card. This card only gets a 3 out of 5 because there aren't any extras and my credit limit is super low ($300) and that is irritating even though I don't need more. It's a good card for those trying to build credit but I plan on getting rid of it whenever I can get something better.

I know that the Capital One Platinum Credit Card doesn't have that many features, but it has been good to me. I got this card when I had a limited credit history, and was offered a limit of $750.00 and an interest rate of 24.9%. Not the best interest rate out there, but also not the worst. I tend to carry a low balance so the interest doesn't bother me much. They have always worked with me, whenever I have had an issue. For example, there were a few times when the website wouldn't let me make a payment, and they agreed to waive the late fee for me since more

The Capital One Platinum Credit Card is a very basic card with not many features. The standard APR is rather high compared to other cards on the market. However, the Capital One Card does benefit those with a limited or not so great credit history. For individuals who fall into this category this gives them the opportunity to prove their credit worthiness and qualify for better cards in the future. If you’re a college student with a similar background there are better options available. When I was a student I had a limited credit background and I was approved for the CitiBank Dividend Card, which offered 15.99% APR and no more

I have had credit issues in the past and have been working to rebuild for some time. This card is great for people like me trying to rebuild as the annual fee is low compared to other credit rebuilders cards and it is waived for a year. The interest rate is average and even good for people with less than perfect credit these days. The only reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars is because The limit is low and even after a year of on-time payments more than the minimum they refuse to raise the limit for me.

The Capital One Platinum Credit Card is the best card I've seen them put out for rebuilding credit for just starting out. They used to charge a much higher annual fee, so $19 is good for them. The roadside assist will save $5 a month your insurance is probably charging, and I like it when rent a car insurance is included like they do. No foreign transaction fees is nice, but I'd check on their currency conversion rates before going on a long trip offshore if it's your only card. So many can use a card like this after the economic meltdown. Even with a $300 limit, it's a good start to rebuild.

I have just recently began to rebuild my credit. This is a great card to do just that. There is an annual fee of $19 but, is waived the first year. I find the customer service is great and your needs are responded to immediately. They are friendly and help in a timely manner. I did get an increase on my credit limit after the first 6 months of on time payments. The Capital One Platinum credit card would be great for first time cardholders.

This Capital One Platinum Credit Card is a good card for someone who is starting to establish themselves in the credit arena. They have a reasonable annual fee which is waived the first year. What isn't great is the APR. It is high if you are planning on maintaining a balance on the card for extended periods of time. If this is the case, there are better options our there. There is no reward program which is not that unusual in a starter type credit card. Overall, this is a good starter card but don't expect too much in the way of bells and whistles. Those may come later as more

The Capital One Platinum is a really great card for anyone looking to get started in the credit field, especially if you are unsure about your needs. The $0 annual fee for the first year is essentially a long lasting trial period, but after this you will likely find that the great APR and quality service make it well worth the standard $19 fee that starts afterwards.

The Capital One platinum credit cards are easily the best first time credit cards to have. Really low annual fee, $19! Could be used to make good a bad credit history. The image gets included in the card, which is a bit embarrassing in the beginning, but that's really beneficial to retrieve a lost/stolen one. There are no reward or cash back facilities, but the credit limit increases once in six months if we do not default on payments. However, only time will tell if it would be the same throughout! I would love to give the card a 5 rating if there were some form of cash back or more

I love my Capital One Platinum Credit Card it's my favorite to use whenever I want to use credit. I have fair credit but I get a good APR with this card. The fees on it are perfectly reasonable as well. It doesn't have all of the features one with great credit would expect but for the average person with average credit it's a good card and a good creditor. I'd have to say since owning this card the best part about it was the customer service. The way they've handled issues was completely unexpected and very welcoming. If you're an average person with fair credit this is the card more

I own this credit card but only use it in emergencies because of the high rate. It has an annual fee, which I really don't care for, but it does offer you 24 hour roadside assistance so that offsets the fee somewhat. The auto rental insurance feature is a nice little bonus with this card, especially for those of us that do a lot of travelling. For travelers the "no foreign transaction fees" feature is also a nice addition to owning this card. This card has plenty of decent features for people that work and vacation abroad but the rate and the annual fee make it a card is a more

The card doesn't quite come with any bells or whistles. There are no rewards, but the limit does increase with every six months of on time payments. It was my first credit card and is relatively standard. It's great for what it is. I would definitely recommend for first time card holders. The credit limit increase is a great incentive to use the card and make payments, thus making it a great card to establish and build credit. If for some reason your fall behind, which I did after being laid off for several months, Capital One does a great job at working with you to stay afloat. Many payment more

Not a fan of this card, if you want 300 dollars for five years then this is the card for you. There are no rewards, no special features and a 19 dollar annual fee. There is never a credit line increase, as far as I can tell which means it doesn't really help you improve your credit. The one thing I do like about this card is the low monthly payments regardless of how much you have charged on this card. Overall I would say that if you don't have any other options for a credit card then this one will do.

The Capital One Platinum Credit Card is a decent card for people just starting off. There are several unattractive features at first, like a $19 annual fee, a high %25 rate, and no rewards. To me, this is one of the biggest features that detracts from this card, because when I spend money, I like to have the feeling I am getting something back out of using it, even if it is points that take years to accumulate. However, this card has several features that makes it stand out from its competitors. First, 24 hr road side assistance is a HUGE plus! If you don't have AAA, just make sure more

I am ok with this card, but have had a few issues with some of the customer service options. Online is fine. But over the phone is challenging. A couple of times I have had to call about billing issues, or (what I thought were incorrect charges) They were somewhat helpful and I did figure out the issue, but had to wait a long time and work very hard to explain the problem. In their defense this was a couple of years ago and have not had to deal with them recently. Otherwise the card is reasonable and useful when I need it.

This card is for those who have limited credit history or those that want to re-establish credit. This one is also a great card for first-time credit users. I've had this card for quite some time and I've never had a problem with it. One of the perks is the no interest fee for the first year.I can't really think of a downside other than the annual $19 fee and the slightly high APR. With the annual fee, you can call them to get it waived. Also, if you continue to pay on time and prove your creditworthiness, Capital One will increase your credit limit after 9 mos ( upon more

I like my Capital One Platinum Credit Card because I can personalize the picture on it every thirty days. I like that I got a free year on the card without having to pay an annual fee and $19 a year is a very small fee to pay for a great card like this. It helps me keep my credit rating high and by having a low maximum balance, it keeps me from spending more than I am able to pay off every month. I recently traveled to California from New York and I used this card while I was out in California. About 2 hours after I used the more

This is a great first card for those wanting to establish some credit. There is no fee for the first year, however that goes up to $19 a year after the first year. The interest rate is a little bit high, so be careful if you are not planning on paying it off every month. The credit limit increases fairly regularly (every 6 months to a year for the first couple of years) if you make your payments. However, after a few years the credit limit stops automatically increasing and my requests for credit increases were always denied. Overall this is a decent first card, but try one of Capital more

This is a great first card! The Capital One Platinum card was my first credit card after my secured card, which was also with Capital One. If you are looking for a credit card to get started on your credit journey, this is a great, basic credit card. The annual fee is really low (only 19$ a year!), but the interest rate is high. That is to be expected with credit cards that are geared to limited credit histories. I do wish this card had some rewards, which is why I knocked one star off. But on the contrary, it comes with some awesome perks, like road side assistance and more

I have had this card for three years now and I really like it. The fee is a little high but I didn't have to pay anything for the first year which was nice. I used this card traveling all over Europe and never had a problem with it, there were no international transaction fees and it was accepted most places I went. Capital One has pretty good customer service as well and I didn't have any trouble when I was abroad. This card has helped me establish credit, but doesn't have great rewards. Still, I like this card a lot and would use Capital One again.

I got this card a couple of months ago. I have no interest charge for the first year and no balance transfer fee! I used this card when I traveled to South America, Peru Chile and Argentina, it's great that you have no international transactions fee (most of the cards charge around 3%) MasterCard is accepted everywhere, so it was really helpful since I couldn't change my dollars so easily. I love this card

Never had a problem with this card. Received when they poached on me my freshman year of college. Fell on hard times and let the balance get out of hand, otherwise, I've never raised the limit, nor needed to. Helped me establish credit, although the couple of missed payments took a toll on my score. The continued payments are helping me build it back up. While it's kind of a rough deal with all the cards being thrown at you in college, this one seemed to have the least risk, even though it's rewards are paltry. I might get another card/line of credit from them in the future.

I have had this card for about ten years. It has been a great card for have and definitely helped me build my credit (I originally got it when I turned 18 and had to credit to speak of). Their customer service department is extremely helpful and has always been able to answer the questions that I have had. The APR is higher than I would like it to be, but I just make sure I make my payments on time. I would definitely recommend this card to anyone who is looking for a good credit card or trying to build their credit.

This credit card has been safe and reliable! This card is great because I was offered no interest and no credit fee for the first year. Even after the first year the interest rate is low and the fee is only $19 per year thereafter. This is a great card that is accepted everywhere and would seem to be very helpful to new credit card users. The master card symbol on the card means that this card is accepted virtually everywhere. As a plus, you can also take advantage of their online system. Managing your account could not be easier with the website just a click away.

I applied for the Capital One Platinum Credit Card in order to improve upon my credit rating, which isn't the best. The interest is a little high, but as long as you pay off your balance each month then that isn't a problem. There is an annual fee, but it's waived the first year and only $19 thereafter, which isn't bad. There are some pretty nice perks offered as well, including auto rental insurance, which I have taken advantage of. You can also customize the card with your own image and really make it your own. It's a great card, with even better customer service, and I would recommend this more

So far, this has been a great card for me. I have suffered some credit issues in the past, and having this card has really helped me to rebuild my damaged credit. We got a card with a very low limit to avoid getting into a great deal of debt, and we avoid paying interest by paying the balance off every month. Customer service has been phenomenal, as well... In one situation we needed a credit increase to help with an emergency, and because of on time payments they gave us the increase with no hesitation. We also forgot about the bill a few months ago, paid it as soon more

The Capital One platinum credit card is an excellent credit card. I like that there is no fee for the first year. However, I do not like the $19 fee per month. I do feel that their are other cards that you could get that do not have a fee, but if you need to build your credit, then this card might be an option for you. I also like the security of text message alerts. I feel that that would really help regulate spending. I also like that there is $0 fraud liability in case something happens. The Capital One Platinum card was my first credit card. It should be used for establishing credit and then moved on from as quickly as possible. The annual fee is pretty low, and waived for the first year, but the APR is unbearably high. Aside from establishing or helping to fix poor credit, this card has very few benefits. The one thing that can be very useful is the rental car coverage, as those costs can often be as much or in excess of the rental itself. If that's not something you need, a store credit card might be a better place to start with establishing credit - at least more

I have had the Capital One Platinum credit card for several years now. Honestly, I plan on getting rid of this thing as soon as I pay off what I owe. The APR of 24.9% is a back breaker. The interest rate did not start out that high when I first got the card. It has gradually gone up over the years. There are not many perks that go with this card. I got it because I needed a credit card for college expenses. You can design how your card looks. Big deal. The Capital One Platinum card is a decent option if you don't have the best credit. You can certainly get a card with much better terms and benefits. No annual fee for the first year is great, but you then have to pay $19 after that. Why not get a card that offers no annual fees like the Chase Freedom card that I'm currently using? The interest rate is also pretty standard at 24.9%, but you could do much, much better if you're credit is right. Overall, I wouldn't switch to this card from my current account, but I would consider this card if my credit wasn't quite good enough more

I love the fact that the annual fee is $0 for the first year and only $19 thereafter. For many cards, you will definitely pay higher than that. My account now is definitely one of those cards, that require you to pay more overall for the year. I also like the rental car clause where you are covered for collision, damage and loss. My card also does not have this. This card also has roadside assistance. As a single female, that is always important if you are driving alone, particularly at night. This would give me a sense of assurance that I could get the help needed. I also like more

Overall, the Capital One Platinum Card looks like it has a lot of nice features, one problem I have is the yearly fee. The travel and international benefits look nice, but not everyone will use them. Personally, I use the Capital One Sony Rewards Card. My spending on monthly expenses and the minor business traveling I do, helps me rack up huge points. By only spending half of the points I earn each year, I am set up for a great Playstation 4 release party, since I have the points to purchase that plus a new TV. The big thing is while this card(the Platinum) isn’t for me, it doesn’t more

I chose the Capital One Platinum credit card as my first card to start building credit with. It initially came with a 300 dollar line of credit for me, but that quickly changed to 500 once my first few billing cycles were done. Capital One is a solid and reputable company for your first credit card, and they may approve you even with little credit history (like they did for me). My one gripe is that if you pay your bill in full every month they initially put holds on your account for "suspicious activity", but this is quickly remedied with a call to their support line.
