How is my monthly balance due calculated? If I use my $300 credit limit, how much will my monthly dues be approximately? If I pay off the amount I used in full will I continue to have monthly dues?

Apr 19, 2016
If your balance is less than $25, your required minimum monthly payment will be equal to your balance. That means if you don't have a balance, you will not be responsible for making a payment. If your balance is above $25, your minimum payment will be the greater of $25 or 1% of your balance, plus fees and interest. So the minimum payment on a $300 balance would be $25, assuming you enter the month without any unpaid fees.

You only need to pay the minimum amount by your due date to qualify as having paid on time, and thus avoid both late fees and potential credit score damage. However, you more

If I have a $1000 limit, what cash advance can I get?

Photo of Card H.
Jan 4, 2016
Credit cards typically have different limits for regular purchases and cash advances. You should be able to find your cash advance limit listed on your monthly statement, or you can call Capital One’s customer service (800-955-7070) to ask. Just keep in mind that cash advances are quite costly. In this case, you will be charged a cash advance fee of at least $10, and the amount advanced will immediately begin accruing interest at a rate of 24.99%. You can find more information about cash advances at: . Hope this helps. Best of luck!

Will my limit increase after 5 monthly payments?

Photo of Card H.
Feb 13, 2016
Cardholders are generally eligible for credit limit increases after six months of on-time payments, but that doesn’t mean you will necessarily be granted one. Your best bet would be to call customer service at 800-955-7070 and ask. For more information, you can check on credit limit increase options in the materials mailed with your credit card or read our article on How to Get a Higher Credit Limit: . Hope this helps.

It’s simply one of the best credit cards for newcomers. No, it doesn’t offer rewards or low starter financing rates. Instead, the Capital One Platinum Card rewards you with a far more valuable commodity: the opportunity to improve your credit standing without spending a dime.

It’s catered to people with limited credit, which means you have a good chance of getting approved even if you’re just beginning your credit career, and it doesn’t charge an annual fee. So whether you make purchases with this card and always pay your entire balance by the due date or decide to just keep it in a drawer for emergency purposes, your credit reports more

Cap one is a great and fair company to build or rebuild credit. Everything is up front and the the customer service team are the most friendly folks I have talked to in a long time and knowledgeable as well! I trust this company and no hidden fees or gouging tactics! If you do your part then you can definitely enjoy the perks of being a Cap One card holder!

This is great opportunity to rebuild my damaged credit due to medical collections when I became ill. I pay my balance every month. I don't care if the APR is 100% because I don't carry a balance. This is a credit rebuilding tool and that's all. Good things will happen with responsible use.

I got this card mainly because there is no annual fee, among many other perks. I would improve the grace period and extend it to 60 days. I would definitely recommend it to others. The customer service is excellent and it is the perfect card for me and very useful. I have experience with Wells Fargo too and that company is terrible compared to Capital One.

The capital one platinum card is as advertised: a great entry credit card for those with no to minimal credit. I opted for this one because I needed to build credit, seeing as i had none being under 21. It does its job well, but it has no frills. There are no rewards associated with this card being an entry card and all. I've never had to dispute a charge but when there was a misunderstanding regarding a late payment, they reversed the interest charge almost immediately after clearing it up with customer service. I would have no qualms recommending this card to anyone.

I am trying to re-establish some good credit after getting into some trouble with them when I was younger. I have not had any trouble with the card. I can check it online, and it also has a mobile app. Paying and using the card is easy. I have not had to speak with customer service. I have owned the card for just over one year.

I got this card so I could build my credit. The card reports to the major credit bureaus so it's perfect. I wouldn't improve anything about the card - the payment system is easy, it provides multiple credit limit options, and it works for people with no or bad credit. I would recommend it to anybody who is just starting out with credit and wants to build a good credit score, or anybody with bad credit who wants to rebuild their credit, particularly if they've applied for other cards and been rejected. Customer service is great as well, though I haven't had too much experience with it.

This one was of the first credit cards I got and I still have it. It is what started my relationship with Capital One. APR is a bit high, but as a starting out card it's great. It doesn't confuse you with rewards that you never get or crazy high fees. It's a great card for just about anyone and couldn't be happier with the service from Capital One!

Hello All,

I am totally satisfied with the interest, fees, and service of Capitol One. So much so, that I opened a checking account. Let me explain.

A third of Americans have delinquent debt. That means, in Capital One terms, 1 out every three (1/3) people that have a Capital One Credit Card, will spend a lot on credit, then stop paying their card off. ( Now consider the further risk of extending credit to a population, that proportionately may be 45%-65% (9/20-9 out of 20), will stop paying their card.

I admit, I was one who did not care about his credit score when I was younger, BUT I am striving and more

My card has an interest rate of 14 percent. The card has allowed me to start rebuiding my credit so I can eventually buy a house in the future. I would recommend it to others that are trying to rebuild their credit. The customer service is great. They respond very quickly to emails and on the phone.

I've had this card for a bit more than a year now and am very happy with it. It was the first credit card I'd received after rebuilding my credit and I've found it fits my needs perfectly. The balance was increased as I made on-time payments, the online website for account management is intuitive and easy to use and the few times I've had to call Capital One with a question I've found them to be helpful, courteous and eager to fix whatever issue I'm having.

I got this card because I am working on rebuilding my credit, and I was fortunate enough to qualify for it. I haven't had any issues thus far with customer service, payment, or interacting with my account through the online portal and phone. The interest rate is very reasonable considering my low credit score. The only thing I can think of to make this better would be if it had some sort of rewards feature, other than that its a pretty good card.

This is the card I got when I got my credit form bad to decent. I was real proud of it and happy that I had gotten it. I would recommend it to anyone that has been working on improving credit. They have a great online section and it is very easy to pay your bill and keep track of your credit line by signing on. They also have great customer service. The fees are good and are lower then ones for people with really bad credit (which I use to have).

I recently applied for the Capital:One Card and I was so shocked when I was approved. I had the worst credit score the past 3 years and I just thought I would give them a shot. i was approved for 1000 bucks and no annual fee. I get a cash advance of 500 with a very low rate. I am just so happy that i get to build up my credit again with the card!

I got this card a few years ago and so far it's been good. The interest rate is pretty standard considering I got this card when my credit wasn't all that good. The great thing is that every so often, maybe once or twice a year I can get my credit limit raised. My credit limit started at $500 and now it's $950 because I have been consistent with my payments. Overall I am satisfied with this card. I'll probably keep using it for now and eventually try to get a card with a better interest rate.

did you try asking them for a lower interest rate now or they wont do that?

The intrest rate is not too bad considering that I usually pay off the balances right away. I never had any issues with billing until lately. The only issues that I had was the slow fraud resolution process. It took 2 weeks to get a letter and I am still in the process of getting it fixed. The call centers are not user friendly and because of that I chose to close the account. The operator did not understand the difference between my account and the credit buearu.

The interest rate is a little high, but overall it is a good card. It's perfect for building or rebuilding credit. The customer service is good with Capital One and the card is accepted widely.

I transferred my high balance from another credit card to the Capital One® Platinum Credit Card. Previously, I was paying a 19% interest rate. Knowing that I was spending a fortune in fees and wanting to get my $4000 balance paid off as quickly as possible, I transferred all charges, knowing there would be only a 3% transfer fee on that charge. I can take up to 18 months to pay off this credit card without worrying about interest all of that time. I also have 18 months to pay off this credit card with 0% interest each month.

Overall I would say my experience is very positive. They offer a credit rating for free, the terms and interest are good, and I once had an attempted theft that they caught before I even knew it happened. Great service.

I was in the market for a card that would help me rebuild my credit. I looked for a few days until I stumbled onto this card. It isn't the best, but it does get the job done. It has already helped improve my credit score tremulously. One of the best features of this card is the incremental credit increase when the user pays his or her bill on time.

i gave this four stars because of the APR that it is a little higher of what i am used to. however, they did give me a year with 0% APR and at the same time free balance transfer, i did not use the balance transfer option, but did use the card. also, was able to pay it off before the year, so i had no interest charged. i believe that they are a good bank, and seemed easy to deal with, but i did not have any issues, so i am unsure whether they are good at problem resolution. another thing that i like is that they have may more

This is a good card for getting your credit back up to speed. I got this card when my credit had taken a huge hit due to a divorce, but by using this card a little bit each month I was able to get a higher limit after 6 months as well as open up additional Capital One credit cards including one with rewards.
The interest rate on this card is pretty high, but as long as you only use it for a few manageable purchases each month and pay it off in full the interest rate is not an issue.
The fact that there is no annual fee was also more

I have been using this card for awhile and while it admittedly isn't the best credit card it is good for me as I have really, really bad credit and can use this sparingly to increase it. You will get a lot of fees if you don't use it carefully and keep track of your purchases but I haven't had issues with it yet.

This was one of my first credit cards. The lack of annual fee was nice. My credit limit wasn't terribly high but this was just a starter card for me. Watch out for the APR. They can really catch you there. The card website was easy to use and they would flag my card for any activity they found weird. That was helpful when someone cloned my card and bought $800 plane tickets.

The Capital One Platinum was my card of choice when I was beginning to build my credit. The rewards program isn't great and it's not the most accommodating card when it comes to APR, but the lack of annual fee and leeway when it comes to paying the bill is great.

I have a Capital One Platinum MasterCard that I received as part of the Credit Steps Program. They issued me an unsecured card with a $500 limit even though my credit is not in great shape. The best part is that in addition to helping me rebuild my credit, I will receive an automatic credit limit increase after making the first 5 payments on time. They gave me zero percent interest for the first 7 months, and the payments are low so they are easy to manage.

I received a Capital One Platinum MasterCard June 2015. My limit is $300. I am on the Credit Steps Program, which means you can get a credit limit increase after making your 1st 5 monthly payments on time. I have used the card several times during the short time I have had it. I make sure I pay it off immediately, or make more than the minimum due. I am in the process of trying to rebuild my credit. I have had this card for one month, and Capital One has already reported my credit limit, and payment history to the credit bureaus. My credit score went up 3 points more

I have a Platinum Master Card with Capital One since 2009. My credit limit has always been increased and fit my overall credit score. When I am a few days late, I just call and make sure they have the info so I do not have to pay any fee. In the same manner, if I am going to be over the limit, or if I made a mistake and I am, if I call them and let them know, they do not apply any extra fees.

I have had the Capital One Platinum Card for a few years now. This card is great for a first credit card, as I was accepted without any substantial credit history. I started off with a credit limit of $500, and over the years I have been able to increase that to $4000. The APR on this card is high compared to other cards, so I don't usually carry a balance on it. The card also offers no rewards which is the main downside for me. The lack of rewards really stands out as a big negative when you compare it to a Citi Double Cash card or even to more

Having held this card for a few years, I don't have too many complaints. They have been very fair with my rates and payments. My only issue has been that it took about 4 months for them to decide on my payment date change. Otherwise, this is a very good, basic card.

I'm absolutely devoted to Capital One. They extended a credit card offer to me, when others wouldn't. I have rebuilt my credit portfolio and my credit score has increase over 100 points. I have never had one bad experience with customer service, they are always friendly, professional and very knowledgeable about their products. There are various interest rates depending on the credit card and most importantly, your credit worthiness. I started off with a higher interest rate on my a platinum card, but a low interest rate for my Venture one card. I have gotten CLI on all of my cards when ever I have submitted a request. I pay more
