The Chase Slate card is one of the best balance transfer credit cards available in recent years. Chase Slate offers 0% for 15 months on balance transfers, along with a $0 balance transfer fee and a $0 annual fee. Plus, Slate is available to people with good credit, unlike most other elite 0% credit cards, which require excellent credit for approval. Just make sure to transfer your balance within 60 days of opening an account and then repay what you owe before regular rates take effect. That’s when Slate starts to get expensive.

If you’re interested in learning more, we take a closer look at the offer’s key components below:
Chase Slate Review Highlights:
Free transfers if you act fast. Not only will you enjoy 0% for 15 months interest on transferred debt, but you can also avoid a balance-transfer fee if you complete the transaction within 60 days of account opening. Otherwise, you’ll have to pay 5% of the amount you transfer. There is no annual fee.
Avoid interest on purchases too. The Slate Card’s 0% for 15 months interest promotion also applies to new purchases. So if you use Slate for spending, you won’t have to worry about interest charges for the first 15 months, provided that you make on-time minimum payments in the meantime. But don’t use this as an excuse to overspend, as high regular rates will drive up the cost of any balance that you don’t repay by the end of the 0% period. Using a credit card payoff calculator should help.
Financing appeal has a time limit. The Chase Slate Card’s 0% intro rates ultimately give way to a regular APR that could be significantly higher than the market average for a new credit card offer, depending on your creditworthiness. That means you’re very likely to overpay if you carry a balance past the 15-month mark because even the low end of Slate’s advertised APR range is well above the average among cards that require excellent credit for approval.
Requires good credit or better. The fact that you need good or excellent credit to get approved for the Chase Slate Credit Card means that some of the people who could benefit the most from a free balance transfer won’t be able to qualify. So make sure to check your credit score for free on WalletHub before submitting an application.
No rewards. The Chase Slate Visa is by no means a rewards card, but that’s not a bad thing. We recommend using a separate card for everyday purchases that you can pay in full by the end of the month, anyway. This strategy is called the Island Approach. And you can find some great choices among the year’s best rewards credit cards.

The Chase Slate foreign transaction fee is 3%. This fee applies to all purchases processed outside the United States, even if you're not physically abroad. So, online purchases from internationally based merchants are subject to Chase Slate's foreign fees, too.
However, it is worth noting that this card was not meant for international purchases. Instead, the Chase Slate was designed as a financing option. It used to offer 0% for 15 months on purchases and 0% for 15 months on balance transfers. But this card is no longer available to new applicants.

Plus, you can earn $200 for spending $500 in the first 3 months.
In addition, this card is also a great financing option as it offers an intro APR of 0% for 15 months on both purchases and balance transfers (subject to a fee of 3% for the first 15 months, 4% at a promo APR that Capital One may offer you at any other time). The card's regular APR is 19.99% - 29.99% (V).

Not much of a credit limit, but I pay this card every month. Also, kind of high interest rate. They also have a nice credit score feature. Update* Nice Credit limit now, but I pay on time, every month. I also usually pay all of it, so I don't pay the high interest rate. No perks to speak of. They have some discounts at places, but not many that I would ever use.

By far, My favorite card. The rewards are generous and they quickly rewarded my use and payment history with a credit increase. The app is also the easiest you use and understand. I like that you also get a pretty detailed weekly report.

The lack of an annual fee makes it useful to have in the wallet. That said, I do not recommend carrying balances on credit cards ever. It should be a measure of last resort. I keep the card because I have had it for over 25 years but have moved to a card that pays cash back

I applied and got the card but the card transfer fee was for 5% when I got the terms and conditions...should I try to make the transfer and then argue that the advertisements online when I applied stated $0 and 0%.

Oddly the very most important aspect of this company should be a place to apply for a credit card but there isn’t? So what if someone is satisfied with all of the information and wants to apply for a car, where do they go?

Spent hours trying to find a link or way to apply for the Chase State card with no luck. Maybe no longer available. After reading the reviews, maybe it's a good thing that I don't get this card. I have excellent credit and have many more options, but had a loan at a local Chase bank and thought it was a good experience. As in most cases, the credit card portion of the company is maybe a separate entity from the banking sector.

Yeah...don't believe the hype. Chase offers this card in a way that any reasonable person would assume it's a good option to transfer over balances from other cards and get a free short term loan as a result. As can be seen in numerous reviews, and I have now experienced first-hand, they will only approve you with a low spending limit. I have exceptional credit, house is paid off, no car loans, over $600k in assets, etc. I have a few other cards with limits in the $15k to $20k, so I was expecting the Chase card would be approved for the same. Nope. They gave me a $5000 limit. Based on other reviews it seems like this is actually a high number compared to others. I was only even applying for this card as a very short term solution to some credit card debt I wanted to wait a few months to pay off. Now I've taken a hard pull on my credit report for a credit card with a limit that is far below what would reasonably be expected. The ability for anyone to get approved with a high enough limit to actually utilize a balance transfer up to $15k that they advertise is a fantasy. For anyone with good credit, I would recommend just getting an unsecured personal loan from Lightstream instead. Yes, you will be paying interest, but it's a very low rate and at least the terms are clear and they aren't just playing games with you like Chase.

Thanks for the candor. Years ago Chase cancelled one of their gas credit cards to allow issue of a new one. I wasn't told, found out when I tried to charge gas. Had to call form the station and negotiate to keep the gas card while reducing the credit limit on another of their cards. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Unbelievable that they would do that.
