Just so you’re not confused, there are two China Airlines cards: this, the simply named China Airlines Credit Card and the China Airlines Bonus Miles Credit Card with Annual Fee. As I’m sure you can surmise, the simple China Airlines Credit Card gives you fewer miles and does not have an annual fee. So, instead of a 7,500 mile initial bonus, you only get 2,500 after first use. Instead of 1 mile/$1 spent everywhere and 2/$1 on China Airlines, you get 0.5 miles/$1 and 1/$1 with the China Airlines Credit Card. Both cards offer 0% on balance transfers for 6 months and give up to 5,000 bonus miles for doing a transfer. Both require good-to-excellent credit for approval, so which you decide to get would really depend on how much the extra miles are worth to you. However, it’s not whether you should get A or B. there is a third option, getting neither card. There are a number of cards on the market that offer much better terms than either of the China Airlines Credit Cards. The Chase Sapphire Card gives you $625 in airfare and hotel accommodations as an initial bonus. The Capital One Venture Card offers basically 2% cash back across all purchases as long as you redeem for travel. The Citi Simplicity and Platinum Select Cards offer 0% on transfers and purchases for 21 months. I bet you’ve nearly forgetten about the China Airlines Credit Card by now, huh?
