Credit has been a sensitive and challenging topic for me since college. I got started on the wrong foot from the beginning so I have had my struggles. But I realized that credit is a tool and it absolutely is a strong tool if you take time to understand the "credit game" and really get clear on your personal finances and your goals. Know where you are at--exactly. Credit One gave me a break which honestly I didn't expect. Sure they've got fees here and a little there but if you need to inject some live blood into your credit game and rejuvenate a struggling score, this card helped my more

This card absolutely helped me raised my credit score and it still is! As a teenager, didn't know any better ruined my credit score not paying on time. But within those years I tried applying for other credit cards and it denied me a few times. So I gave up after 4/5 years. Finally this card offered me, and I decided to check it out. At first I thought it was a little shady, because of all the fees that I had to pay. But at the end it all worked out, it has been helping me raise my credit score, now I am finally approved for great offered credit more

I absolutely love this card. It has kept me posted on my credit score, it gives recommendations to improve your score and lets you know why you may be getting hit, I have followed its recommendations and it as promised has improved my score. I pay ON TIME everytime and has even increased my balance over time as promised. This is a perfect card if you're trying to rebuild your credit, I have read poor reviews and I don't get it, don't get a credit card if you cant make the payments as I am sure thats what got you in trouble to begin with.

The Credit One Credit card is a good card to help build or rebuild your credit. This is one of the very first cards that I ever applied for. Their payments are very manageable each month. I was given 2 credit increases in 2 months which was nice, but what I didn't like was that they charge you around $24.99 to increase your credit limit, I feel like this is ridiculous considering my Capital One Premier card is also very generous and they do not charge you to increase your credit limit. They also offer a credit tracking tool to give you your credit score, although it seems to inaccurate, more

Their credit card is more for people with no credit, but they approve just about anyone with bad credit too. I had their credit card back in 200.. something I used the card for many years, it was expensive but I had no complaints until I missed a payment one month.I paid the card off in full and then I went traveling abroad. I forgot that they were charging me month to month yearly. Well, I didn't pay the 1st month and I didn't realize it until I looked at my credit report.... I check it nearly daily and it was 32 days late from the only charge was the more

i like The Bank Of America SECURED Visa Credit Card much better, You can Open it with $300, it does have a $39 annual fee but after 10 months of you making ON TIME Payments You can ask them to Return your Deposit and INCREASE your Credit Line, i started with a $300 Deposit and now i have a $1,700 UNSECURED Credit line with them after just 10 months...

Credit One cards are easy to get. The short app's and you only have to wait about 7 days to get your card in the mail. Bill payment is easy over the phone but their is a fee or send a money order or check in the mail. Late fee's are high but there are low monthly payments.

I regret getting this card. After my experience with this card I have learned that when a credit card offers comes with an annual fee, run far and fast in the other direction. Also, I am not fond of how they will offer you an increase on your credit card but first you have to pay them to get it. I am currently working on paying this credit card off and as soon as that's done I'm closing the account. At the end of the day it's more trouble than what it's worth.

This is a great card. I love getting Gas Rewards! With the price of gas so high, any price break makes me happy! It was relatively easy to apply and get this card. If you need a card that'll work for you, this is the one.

I'm not a big fan of this card. I got this as an emergency card. I didn't have good credit by any means because I had a lot of unpaid medical bills, and I wanted to try to build it back up. With all of the hidden fees it's really not worth it. I found myself using the card but once or twice for very small purchases, but still making larger payments due to the fees and the super high interest rates. I couldn't wait to pay it off and get rid of it. Now that my credit is a little better, I don't have to settle for this gouger.

I've had this card for a coupe years and its been pretty useful. I've had credit problems in the past and this was one of the only cards that would approve me. The card does have an annual fee but it was less than the annual fee than other cards that cater to people with bad credit. The card itself is great and I've had no problems. Their website interface is easy to use and schedule payments,

I have had this credit card for a number of years and have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever. I use it now as a little emergency card but while in college, I really benefited from the quick payment option and the return of my credit limit as soon as I paid the balance off through the quick payment option. The only downside with this card is the customer service. I would rather poke out my eye with a fork than call their customer service department! The hold time, plus the unintelligible accents are overwhelmingly frustrating. Thankfully, I hardly ever have to call customer service and everything can be done more

I love this card!
1. After I made the first payment I got a $200.00 increase on my total credit limit (from $400.00 to $600.00) which included a $50.00 increase on my cash withdrawal limit (from $100.00 to $150.00).
I've heard from others that this is typical and I should be expecting even more regular inreases.
Only time will tell as I've only had the card for two months as yet.
2. Everytime I login to the website to check my account I also have my credit score and a summary of my credit report - both of which are updated at least daily - waiting right there next to my balance details. more

Credit One Credit Card is the worst credit card to have. It has so many fees before you've even had a chance to use it. I know it is a card for people with bad credit, but Credit One takes advantage of everyone with bad credit. You could build your credit with this card, but you'd be paying an arm and a leg to do so. If you're desperate, get this card. Otherwise, look elsewhere for a card that has a high interest rate, but no fees, the fees will eat you alive. Stay far away from this card.

Credit One visa is a good card only if you have low credit score, I got it while building my credit and has been helpful since they report to all three credit agencies. I did have a problem with this card and there was fradulent charges on my account, unfortunately the banker worked with me and removed these charges from my balance immediately after reporting. Later on I had to provide documentation stating that the charges were fraudulent, but overall the experience was pleasant and I am a happy customer.

The Credit One Visa card is a pretty decent card for people with lower credit ratings. The annual fee gets applied to your balance immediately so I wasn't very happy having $75 immediately on my first statement. Still, secured cards or annual fees are terribly uncommon for people that have poor credit scores so I don't think it's completely unfair. I have had this card for a few years now and rarely use it but I have had no problems with the customer service or accessing my account online in that time. The interest rate isn't great but, considering that the card is designed for higher risk people, it isn't more

This card is great. It has helped me restore my credit score. They slowly increase your limit as you prove that you can spend the money and pay it back in a timely fashion. The customer service is excellent and you can always get in touch with somebody to speak to if you are having problems. I thought I had lost my card and in an instant they were able to check and see if it had been used at all and put a stop on it. Luckily I had just dropped it down the side of my seat in my car and they sent me out a new one more

I picked this card up after my credit was really hit hard. I've had it for a couple years now and I'm a fan. They upped my limit quite a bit since I've had the card, and it reports quickly to all three credit rating bureaus, which can help someone build the credit back up relatively painlessly. The two drawbacks are the interest and the annual fee. The interest rate is pretty high, which is to be expected with a card for people with bad credit. And the annual rate exceeds $75, which is divided up into payments around $8 or so each month. So no matter if you pay more

I recently opened this card to restore my credit. So far is has been ok, however, the annual fees are a bit high. I plan on using the cashbank bonus for my gas purchases. The website has a good feel to it and I was able to setup my card without incident. Several payment options are available. I am not too happy about the express payment fee. They are charging you ten dollars in order to make the payment and have the funds available immediately. This seems steep to me. I was approved very quickly and received my cards promptly in the mail.

I have had this card for just over a year now and to be honest with you I am thinking of canceling it. Don't get me wrong the card is good if like me you don't have the best credit as its easy to qualify for this one but once you have improved your credit and qualify for more cards there are plenty with a lower annual fee (even within the same company) The gas rewards are good but at 1% it would be difficult to earn back enough to compensate for the fee. As the card takes bad credit and there is no initial payment do as I did more

I had made some dumb mistakes when i was in college and my credit suffered accordingly. After a few years my credit started to clear up to the point where i could finally get a card again and this one was available. I applied and amazingly enough was approved with an initial credit line. I've used this card for about 2 years now and have no issues regarding it. The payments are easy to make and the online interface works flawlessly. To anyone out there who needs to build up their credit or even someone looking for a first time card who has no credit history. I would seriously look more

I got this card, because my credit was less than perfect. It has a high annual fee, no rewards, a high interest rate, and a low limit. I will say that it is easy to get, and the customer service is wonderful. Whenever I needed to call them, they were very respectful and answered my questions promptly. For rebuilding credit, this is a good card. The interest rate doesn't bother me, because I pay off my balance every month. The annual fee is high, but there aren't too many options for rebuilding your credit. Overall, I'm happy I got the card, and my credit has increased enough for me to more

I had some medical trouble a few years back, and insurance didn't cover everything. It was pretty hard getting back into the saddle credit wise after falling off the horse. Bills were stacking up and I was working on a greatly reduced budget. Honestly I wasn't sure how I was going to take care of things if an emergency ever arose. That was when I found this card. And that is exactly what I use it for, mostly emergencies. I make sure to make a small purchase with it once or twice a month, but for the most part I save it in case an emergency arises and my generally more

This is an excellent card for rebuilding credit. The annual fee is steep, but it was easy to obtain and does not have hidden fees. The interest rate seems competitive for cards of this category, and they claim to consider you for credit line increases with an on time minimum payment each month for six months. They generally start you out with a credit limit of $400, which is just enough to use and pay off, but not enough to get yourself in trouble with a big unaffordable bill. I wouldn't plan to keep this forever, as the second year the annual fee jumps up to $99, but for the more

I've had this Visa card for quite a while now, and it's been overall pretty good (it works for me and my lifestyle). The annual fees on this card are kind of steep, but it's because it was one of my first cards and my credit honestly was not the best in the world. However, everything else with the card has been spectacular, and the people at Visa are very very nice. They have helped me with any problems I've encountered with great advice and speed. I would recommend this card to anyone who has a fairly low credit and looking for a great new card to start out with.

I have numerous other Visa cards, and they've all been great. This one was very easy to understand, had clear disclosures and set-up's, and I got it in four days. I had a very generous credit limit, one much higher than any other credit card that I have gotten. The annual fee was much less than other cards, so I save money. The card is also appealing, I love that it has style. Overall, this card has proved to be reliable, cute, and money friendly for my pocketbook. I don't think Visa could do any better with this card. I love it.

This card is every bit as good as my other Visa cards, save for the annual fee. This expires after the first year (only an annual fee for year 1), but it's still the only credit card that I have used that has an annual fee. I understand why, as my credit score was not great initially when I applied for this card, and it's not a difficult credit card to obtain. I still feel good about keeping it because I've already paid the fee and I have Visa's high rate of acceptance at merchants and good customer service behind the credit card. This makes me feel better about being more

I have used Visa cards all my life (I mean, who hasn't?), and this card is just as good as the others. It was simple to set up, and get all the paper work filled out (took me maybe 10 minutes of actual paperwork), and I got the card in no time with a credit limit of $400. The free online statements make it a breeze to check, and manage my money. I can't tell you how many times I have forgotten about a payment, but been saved my the free reminder through email (which I check daily). I have had this card for about a year now, and overall more

I got this one to start off like most people, but I kept it only long enough until I could qualify for better cards. I guess it's expected that they'll take most advantage of people who have the least credit leverage, but the high interest rates and the monthly fees make this one a little less forgiving than most. Had I a better idea of my options, I think I would have shopped around a bit more, but I guess I didn't really regret the decision I made because I just didn't use it much and I immediately paid my balances in full anyway. This card was not for me more

This card words great if you have really bad credit like I did. If you use this card for credit rebuilding and not for a daily credit card, it will do wonders for you credit score. As long as I made my payments on time this card did it’s job. My credit score went from the 500’s to the 600’s by just using this card for several months. Also, when you use this card you credit line can be increased and this looks good to other creditors allowing you to get bigger cards in the future. This is a great stepping stone card.

This was the first credit card that I ever got. I understood that I kind of had to start at the bottom of the credit totem pole, as my credit wasn't really "bad", I just didn't have any to begin with. I understand now that that is almost worse than no credit at all. I didn't like the idea of the annual fee, but I understood that it was waived after the first year. I canceled my card after the first year because due to my building credit, I was able to apply for better cards. Still, I needed this card at the time and they were cool by giving more

This card is great for someone with a horrible credit history and looking to start down the road of recovery. It does have draw backs the fees are high and the interest is insanely high as well. If you get past the nearly $100 in yearly fees and the interest rate this is a fairly good card. Nothing is hidden they are up front about the costs and the payments are moderate if made on time. I would recommend this card to those looking to repair or start their credit history. Great customer service, easy bill pay with great features, do it apply you won't regret.

I have to say that I really don't like the Credit One Credit Card. It stuffs you with so many fees before you've even used it. So, before you've made your first purchase, you're already paying them nearly $100 a year to just have the card. That's not good for anyone. I assume this card is for people who have no credit experience or just terrible credit history. So, I guess it serves a purpose. Someone could build their credit history with this card, but you'd be paying to do so. If you're desperate, get this card. Otherwise, look elsewhere for a card that has a high interest rate, but more

This is the first card I've ever had so I can't really compare it to other credit cards. The monthly payments aren't bad and I've never had any issue with fraudulent charges or anything like that. The online monthly credit score tracking is really useful if you're trying to build your credit history. I can't tell you how many times the text/email alerts have saved me from forgetting to pay my bill. By far, my favorite feature has to be the “pick your payment” feature. This is my favorite because I'm paid twice a month and could not pay my bill if it were on a non paying week. more

I have only fair credit so am unable to get a card with a great interest rate, but I really wanted a card to use for emergency purposes. I answered a solicitation I received via U.S. Mail for this card. My application was approved and I received the card within a few weeks. The card has a low limit, which is exactly what I was looking for so that I wouldn't be tempted to overspend. What is the amount that a person is usually approved for on a credit card with bad credit to start
Nov 5, 2013
Photo of Card H.
Card Hub
It depends on the type of card you wish to get, the company that issues it, and your overall credit standing. Most secured credit cards require a refundable security deposit of at least $200 that will serve as your credit line. So for example, if you place a $300 deposit, your credit limit will also be $300. With an unsecured credit card for bad credit, like the Credit One Bank Credit Card, the credit line that you will ultimately get approved for is hard to predict. Credit One will make that determination based on your income, debts, and the exact nature of your credit history.
