It’s kind of confusing that there are a bunch of different Discover More Cards, but that’s just how Discover brands its credit cards, and you just have to pay attention to what comes after the standard part of the card’s title. (I guess it makes sense that there is MORE than one Discover More card anyway and that you need to read MORE than half of each card’s name to figure out which version you’re looking at). This is the Discover More Credit Card that offers an 18 month promotional balance transfer APR. It also offers 0% on purchases for six months, 5% cash back in changing spending categories and up to 1% cash back on everything else. The magic question though is whether the Discover More Credit Card – 18 month promotional balance transfer offer is a good credit card to apply for or not? The non-standardized part of this Discover More Credit Card’s name should give you a clue as to who this card would be a good fit for, and that’s someone looking to do a balance transfer. The other features are good but not great and really only serve as a distraction. You can get better rewards with different cards and a longer 0% purchase APR with other cards so you shouldn’t open the Discover More Card balance transfer version to get those features. When you get down to it, there are other cards that offer better balance transfer terms than the Discover More Credit Card’s 18 month promotional balance transfer anyway. The Citi Simplicity Card and the Citi Platinum Select MasterCard both offer 0% for 21 months and have the same 3% transfer fee as the Discover More balance transfer card. That means you would have 3 more months to pay down transferred debt before interest sets in. Since none of the three cards has an annual fee, I’d say you’re going to have to pass on the Discover More Credit Card – balance transfer version. Keep in mind that this might not always be the case though. The Discover More Balance Transfer Credit Card has offered 0% on transfers for as long as 24 months in the past, so keep an eye for changes to the offer in the future. Getting MORE in terms of the length of the intro period would change how you look at this card.
