This is a good card for people like me with no credit who had to build credit from scratch. The secured deposit I made wasn't expensive, so I was able to get the card without much hassle. If there's one thing I would change about the card, it is the annual $44 fee. I know that that fee is lower than some other annual fees, but I still find it a bit annoying. I use this card monthly, and I keep to a strict budget to make sure I don't go over my limit. That this card is accepted pretty much every is very convenient for me. Overall, I highly more

The First Progress Platinum Prestige Secured Credit Card is a nice card when you're first starting out with your credit. I got this card when I was a teenager, and it served me well over the years. Over-time, as my options opened though, this card's rates were hard to deal with. Much like every starter card, it had a high interest rate. The annual fee is pretty high, and there are no rewards. Over-all, it's a good card for starters, but once you have more options, it's probably best you don't get attached.

I would like to get a card that I can control - and so doing this will help build my credit rating.

As far as secured credit cards go, the First Progress Platinum Prestige Secured Credit Card ranks about the middle of the pack for me. I have had two secured credit cards in the past. The Orchard Bank Secured Credit Card and a Secured Capital One Visa Mastercard and they personally rank higher for me than this card does. It does have a fairly low limit of $300 for a minimum deposit but I believe the $44 annual fee is a bit much considering what this card offers. However, if you're getting a secured credit card then your credit is generally bad like mine was, so you could do much worse more

First Progress Platinum Prestige Secured Credit Card is as the name sounds - it can be the first card for someone who's just building their credit, or who has bad credit. However, I had a Bank of America Visa Credit Card, which they gave to me when I first started trying to build credit. It had a 1% cash back on it, didn't have an annual fee at all, and they gave it to me when I had no credit score! If you're looking for your first card ever, I wouldn't get this one. I can't speak for if you had bad credit, but I would consider talking to your more

Hi.
I am a broker and run across clients in need of rebuilding credit. Does your card allow clients to transfer from secured to unsecured after a period of time?

Upon filling out an application, you will be asked to list a funding source for your card's security deposit should you get approved. The approved funding methods vary by issuer, but you will most likely have to provide checking or savings account information or use a money order. The amount that you choose to deposit ($300 - $2,000 with this First Progress Card) will be placed in a non-interest bearing account at Synovus Bank (the issuer of the First Progress Card) and held there until you close your card account.
