  • Cindy Denk:
I want to recommend a friend under the offer I received inthe mail yesterday. How do I go about doing it? The offer expires on Jan.15,2012?
  • Card Hub:
The credit card offers that we receive in the mail are targeted at the individual level, which means that unless your friend also received the same offer in the mail they will only be able to apply for the online version of the Gold Delta Credit Card Offer. By the way, how does the Gold Delta offer that you received in the mail compare with the delta credit card offer shown on this page?
  • Joe Weider:
Credit card companies really like branding their products with metallic colors that signify achievement and wealth, huh? It makes sense, but just like Will Ferrell in Elf, you could learn a hard lesson if you believe everyone who says they make the “world’s best cup of coffee” or offer “gold” rewards. Sure, it’s Christmas time (explains why Elf is on the brain), but you should be a bit cynical when evaluating the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express. American express deals mostly with the excellent credit crowd, and the Delta SkyMiles Credit Card is no different. For your excellent credit, this card provides 30,000 bonus miles when you charge $500 in the first three months, which are good for a free Delta flight. Up to 9 people on each of your Delta reservations can also check their bags for free and you receive 2 miles for every dollar spent on Delta purchases and one mile for everything else. You also get 20% off in-flight purchases, which could be a perk if there is a good duty-free deal, but not if you just buy something from SkyMall. The priority boarding isn’t really a benefit because what does sitting on a plane for longer really get you? When you get down to it, youre probably only going to get the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express if you are a frequent Delta flyer. Other airline affiliated cards offer at least one free flight, so that’s not unique. A card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred offers a points bonus worth up to $625 in airfare, which you can use on any Star Alliance airline. The 2 points per dollar spent on travel and dining and one point on everything else also beat the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card. All in all, I’d only recommend getting the American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card if you fly a lot and mostly (if not all the time) with delta. Now aren’t ya glad you were cautious?
