I got the JCPenney credit card a couple of months ago and I have not had any problems thus far. My credit rating is only satisfactory so I was pleasantly surprised when I got approved for a JCPenney store credit card. I was approved for a $300 credit limit. The monthly payments that I'm required to pay are minimal and the interest rates are bearable. Some of the best perks of the JCPenney credit card include store discounts on top of discounts that are already going on and I'm given a grace period which means that I can pay my balance in full before the interest rates start to accumulate. more

I got the JC Penny store card the year before my oldest child went to third grade. It's so convenient for shopping for school clothes at the beginning of the school year. The payments are easy to make and the reward points are a nice bonus. I love pairing my card use up with some of the great sales you can find in the store to maximize my savings. All in all, I love this card, and it makes school shopping a breeze for me.

I have a JC Penney store card and I really like it for the rewards. I like the $1 in points for qualifying purchases a lot. I really like that you can earn the $10 in JCP money- I use that and then go when they are having a sale and it really stretches my dollar! The APR is about normal. The only thing that I am not totally crazy about is when the payment is due its on east coast time. So it needs to be in by 8pm EST. The other month I had totally forgotten to pay my bill until that evening at 4 where I am more

The JC Penny store card is pretty much average as far as store credit cards go, though the points/rewards program is a little lacking. The Victoria Secret card, and many other store credit cards, offer double or triple points in addition to a store discount and various promos on sign up. AND please note that JCP points expire at the end of each month, most rewards cards will carry over points until you redeem. Unless you are a die-hard JC Penny shopper you should seriously consider a more general reward type credit card instead. I like Chase (Amazon Rewards is awesome, especially if you do any shopping there) and Capitol more

I have had a JC Penny card since 2007. I had a slightly rocky payment history in 2010 but since then have been consistent in shopping and making payments. My credit limit was increased without request, and I took advantage of that. I made one late payment in the past 12 months due to a bank issue, and immediately my credit limit was significantly reduced with no real explanation. I have since paid off my card and have not used it at all, and don't really have any plans to. I keep the account open should the occasion arise that I would like to use it and to have credit options open.

The JCPenny store card is a decent card. I have a Sears’s card and it has similar features. The no interest paid on purchases of $1000 or more on furniture and mattress orders if paid in full within 12 months is similar in value to what my Sears card offers. You can get a point for every dollar spent on “qualifying” purchases which can mean cash back on future purchases but given the points you earn expire at the end of each calendar month is a little disappointing. It is in my opinion an average card with average deals.

I'm about 50/50 with this card. On one hand, they do offer great benefits. $10 for every $100 you spend a month. And if you go platinum (spend $1000 a year) you get the $15 birthday coupon. However, now JCPenney has actually came out with a rewards card that isn't a credit card. So, you get the $10 for $100 with any form of payment. The only thing that is missing with that would be the $15 birthday credit, in which you'd have to spend a lot of money every year in this store to receive that anyway. Furthermore, I really dislike the percentage rate of the interest. I got more

I'm actually a HUGE fan of this credit card. Initially, it may seem as if the interest rate is high, but that's only if you don't pay the balance in full on the card. You can earn reward points by using the card, which in turn earns you cash off future purchases. I also receive plenty of coupons, which when used in conjunction with the card, offers much more value. I like the payment options too... you can pay by mail, by phone, on line or in the store at any register. How convenient!

I love my JCP card. I enjoy earning (and redeeming!) the rewards. I receive lots of coupons in the mail, even a $15 birthday coupon each year. Lots of cardholder-only sales & benefits. I misread a date on one of my coupons the other day & could not use it. The associate showed me where to find an exclusive cardholder coupon on my phone so that I could save even more money. So easy to review my account statement & pay my bill online. Very pleased with this card.

I really like my card. It is rewarding having a card that gives you real rewards , almost same as paying with someone else's cash! I do shop there a lot because I really like the quality of the children's fashion , they even have a small place just for Disney apparel ! The card is a pleasant surprise when all around us sounds more expensive and lasts very little. I was there yesterday, they had a 20% off on the card and I picked out an outfit for my 5 y/o first day of school. After I founded I went to pay and used the coupon , that's when more

I enjoy the JcPenney store card. I remember my mom having one with them when I was growing up and I buy most of the clothes for my two sons at JcPenney so I decided to open one with them as well. I loved the no interest for 12 months, though the APR after that is nothing special it is typical of most store cards. I like the points system so I know exactly how close I am to my next reward and the 20% off discount for opening the account really was a good deal. I opened my card last fall so I used the 20% off for back more

The credit card earns you great offers on purchases both in store and online but the downside is the high APR compared to a regular credit card.

When I got my JC Penney Store Card it was right around the holidays. I got a fantastic introductory offer with a very low introductory interest rate. The card was very straightforward and functioned just like other cards. If you are making a significant purchase, the introductory specials are great. As an everyday card, the points system needs work, since your points expire at the end of the month. Interest is higher than a lot of cards after the introductory period, but still similar to other store credit cards.

I really like that cardholders can earn points on their purchases to use at a later time, but I don't like that the points expire on a monthly basis. I think it would be more convenient for customers to have points expire every three months, instead. I also wish that the initial discount available for new cardholders was available in store, rather than just online. Offering a birthday gift to cardholders each year is great gesture that probably generates good business for the company as well as makes the customer happy.

I used to be a huge fan of JC Penney and have had a credit card with them for over thirty years. However, it appears that one of the store's priorities that has slipped during their financial woes is an emphasis on customer service. I pay my bill electronically. A couple of months ago, my payment was due on the weekend, so even though I had authorized the payment, it didn't clear my bank until the following Monday. JC Penney charge me the $35 late fee and when I called to ask to have it reversed, they refused and advised I should have paid my bill at a store on more

I have used this card for most of my purchases at jc penney. Some sales are linked to a card usage, so I will purchase the items with my jc penney card. due to the high interest rate I always immediately pay my bill wen I get home to avoid interest charges, which null and void the saving that I have accrued through using the card instore. as a card member, the more I spend the more coupons I get exclusively as a card member. I feel this is a positive thing for me because first off, I never keep a balance and that allows me save the most money more

This JCPenny Store Card seems pretty below average. 1 point / dollar is not good compared to other rewards cards, and the redemption is limited to JCPenny. Most of the rewards are exclusive to JCPenny purchases which limits your ability to shop elsewhere. Using a general rewards credit card is much more financially sound than using a card that ties you to a single store. The worst part about this card is that the points expire at the end of each calendar month. That's absurd.

Better hope that no one ever makes a fradulent charge on your card because you are more than likely going to be drug through the ringer trying to prove it was a fradulent charge. JCPenney definitely lost my business.

I've used this card several times, normally to get in on a promotion or sale. Always hassle free, non intrusive marketing when I am not using the card. This has been a staple in my wallet for years. Easy to use whenever I need to stop in for a quick purchase, such as slacks or a few polos for work. I recommend this card for anyone looking at a department store credit card, you wont regret the decision to use the Pennys card.

The JCPenney store card sounds like it is a pretty typical store card. Most cards offer a 0% interest promotion for new cardholders and a 0% percent interest on large ticket items. 1 point per dollar is pretty standard as well for store cards that offer points. A drawback from this is that the points expire at the end of the month, instead of 6 months or annually. No annual fees are pretty standard as well for a store card. All in all, it is a pretty decent card, with average offerings.

The JCPenney Store Card offers great perks! A 0% introductory rate on new purchases, reward points for purchases, $10.00 store credit for every $100.00 spent on qualifying purchases, even a gift on your birthday! No annual fees, great terms for a great store. Definitely a great deal!

This is a really neat card because think about the fact you are getting rewarded to shop at somewhere you already shop. It's like hey we are going to pay you to do something you are already doing! Talk about saving money when it is time to have to go buy the kids more school clothes. I also really love the coupons they send you , so the money that gets saved just keeps getting added up more and more the longer you keep using this card. It is nothing but win win !Every other card I have really does not reward you this way, at least not as JC more

The first time you use your JCP card, they give you 20% off your total purchase and thereafter any other purchases you make that day. They will periodically send you $10 off coupons which are nice, but the down side is, you have to use your card in order to get the $10 off. I wish you could have the card, get the coupons and use them with any purchase, cash or card.

The initial bonus discount is a nice feature of this JCPenney card, but after that the reward program pales in comparison to any other decent reward card (for example, a USAA platinum MasterCard). I would not recommend this card unless you shop at Penney’s multiple times a month.

I've always been a fan of JCPenney, and I was rather excited for this to be my first "store" card many, many years ago. Although it has gone through some changes, I've ultimately have used the great incentives offered for the card holders to get some really great deals. Interest rate is about what you would expect for a store card. My only complaint was that my account had fraudulent charges to it twice, but this may have been a system error. The first time it happened the customer service representative gave me all the information for the purchaser (address, telephone number, name, etc) when she really shouldn't have. This more

Penneys! I love this card and I'm happy to have it in my wallet. The JCP Store Card, or JC Penney Store Card as us older folks know it as, is very handy. Mostly for the discounts, I must admit. I purchase all of my work clothes here each season, so basically four major purchases each year. I pay it off before the next billing cycle and I'm good to go. Very convenient and since I like the clothes they offer, like Stafford, Levi's, etc...I appreciate it very much. Easy to manage with the online interface. And oh..did I mention the discounts!! Some very good deals will come your way more

I love this card! It is fantastic around the holidays because of the 20% discount that you can get off of your purchase when signing up. I have members of my family that shop at JC. I love that I can use this card at the Sephora inside of JC Penny, and that I can pay my bill at the counter, as well as all of the other methods of payments. The only thing that I dislike about the card is the 27% rate.

The JCPenney Store credit card offers many rewards and promotions especially if you do most of your clothing and apparel purchases there. The reward certificates are a nice perk and it gives you an incentive to buy. The rewards points are pretty standard but I don't like that they expire at the end of the month. My CitiBank Dividend card has similar rewards earnings but my points never expire, so I never feel rushed to use them. My father has had a JCPenney Store Card for over 10 years and they do value loyalty and give you extra perks. If you love to shop at JCPenney this card has a more

The JC Penny Store card is perfect for you to open up around the holidays. You get a great bonus of 20% off your purchase as well as a point for each dollar you spend. This will help you spend less around the holiday season and earn some great points. If you plan on paying your bill off every month then the terms are more than ideal for you. If you don't want to pay off all at once it still may be good if you want the points!

The JC Penney Store Card is pretty sweet. Considering I have 2 girls who all love to shop, lord help me. JC Penney always have great sales, and you get to earn points, towards future purchases. I do wish however there was more bonus options, like some of the other store cards i use. Because honestly it is a bummer when I lose my points each month, because if i don't shop much its hard to earn enough points to actually be worthwhile. Overall though I definitely have recommend it to the other parents from my children school as clothing is always coming up in conversation.

This credit card has helped me a lot. The fees are a bit high. Among the interests if not paid promptly and late payment fees I only deal with this JC Penney card for emergency purposes. It is great to have this card in a crisis. It is even better to pay the bill back if you can promptly. Having this credit card can be a big responsibility. Then there are JC Penney perks for those of us responsible enough to pay off our credit card debt in time. When you need clothing or other JC Penney accessories this card comes in handy.

My wife has a JC Penney's card but we rarely use it. One, we don't shop there as much as we did in the past and, two, the interest rate on this card is very high. Although they offer a generous 12 month intro period, it is hard to stomach a rate of 27%. The reward system is something that we have never taken advantage of either and being that points expire after each calendar month it makes a lot of sense. For someone that has kids they want to do some back to school shopping for or need to buy a large amount of clothing in the future, it more

I like that I can pay the bill at the counter right after I purchase something, so I basically get a percentage off for using the card and can just as easily pay it off same day. Sometimes there are really great finds at JC Penny’s too! I have found a lot of cute outfits there at great prices. I just wish that the stores were a little more organized. I like the JCPenny Store Card. I used to use this card quite often and you don't need the best credit to receive it. There is no annual fee like a lot of other store cards. Their initial bonus of up to 20%, is quite higher than most other store cards. Their reward point system is somewhat above average but there is a limit on how much you can earn and they expire at the end of every month. They have an intro interest rate of 0% for 12 months, but after that, it skyrockets to almost 27%. I think that is extremely high, especially compared to other store cards. more

I have had the JC Penny credit card for quite some time now. I use to be a frequent shopper, so having the card was nice. The APR is quite high though for a store credit card, so I always try not to charge more than what I want to pay monthly for their credit card. I have never had a problem to get a credit limit increase of need be, and sometimes they have increased it on their own and I just received a letter about it. If you are a regular JCPenney shopper, then you should definitely own this card. Assuming that you purchase things regularly, you will find great deals through the use of this card. In an average purchase, using this card saves me about 20%. Additionally, sales exist specifically for cardholders. The biggest problem that I see with this card is the interest rate, roughly 25%. If you frequently use other store credit cards though, this interest rate should be old hat to you. Another potential downside (not for me, but I know it is for others) is the lack of a really good rewards program with this card. One exists, but it’s more

The thing about this card is that only those who are big customers of JcPenney should consider getting it. If you shop there often it provides lots of benefits. You are given special sales and exclusive deals and they are pretty generous about that. I can usually save 15-30% on average by using my card, and collecting points and redeeming them usually gets me a few free things every quarter. But if this is a one-time thing, even if you are spending a large amount, it just is not worth it. The APR is pretty high and I do not believe you can upgrade it to a general card instead more

This card seems like something only someone invested in JCPenny should honestly look into. Where it has standards, such as no annual fees the rest of it is less then mediocre. The starting rate is atrociously high and there is no intro incentive. The bulk of the card seems weighted towards its rewards, but even that is out preformed by almost any other card. While there are nice discounts, such as the intro discount, the rest is quite low when considering the fineprint on the card which says 'Points expire at the end of each calendar month.' which essentially means you need to spend a lot to gain a little. more
