PFCU turned their cash back card into a gas cash back credit card. Bad choice! I still use it to buy gas - until I find another one, but for other purchase I use USAA cash back card because I get 1.25% back every month, just like PFCU used to do. Really bad choice PFCU!

You go, PenFed! The Pentagon Federal Credit Union’s got your back these days because as gas prices ae rising to record levels, they have a number of offers with great generic gas rewards. The Pentagon Federal Credit Union Platinum Cash Back Rewards Credit Cards is just one of their offers that gives you 5% on gas no matter where you get it, just as long as you pay at the pump. That’s a pretty sweet deal for anyone who can’t just go to a single gas station every time they need to fill up their tank. That’s of course not all the Pen Fed Platinum Cash Rewards Card offers though. It also gives you 1% cash back on everything else and a 1.99% introductoru balance transfer APR for 24 months. Neither of those last two things is all that great but they are merely supporting actors to the 5% cash back gas rate. You can get comparable rates on other cards, but most are affiliated with specific stations which means you have to get gas there to save and the others offer higher rates for only the first couple months or so. In general, the highest regular cash back rate you’ll get on gas purchases on a non-station affilated card is 3%. That makes the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Cash Back Card unique and extremely beneficial. It is important to note though that to get the PFCU Platinum Cash Back Credit Card you’ll have to join PenFed, which will run you $15. Now, as I mentioned the Platinum Cash Back Rewards Card is not the only rewarding gas credit card Pentagon Federal Credit Union has got. A number of other cards (like the Coast Guard Auxiliary Credit Card) that are branded with the names of military organizations or associations also offer 5% cash back at any gas station as well as 1% on all other purchases and they donate 0.25% of all your purchases to the organization your card is affiliated with. Don’t worry, that dough is coming out of PenFed’s pocket, not yours!
