The Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express is yet another credit card offering a free flight just for signing up. Well, at least that’s what you might think at first, but apparently you only get the 25,000 bonus miles necessary if you add 2 authorized users to your account, which most people won’t do. It’s not all bad though because you can start redeeming at 10,000 miles, which would get you $100 off a Delta Airlines ticket. That means the annual fee you have to pay with the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express ($150) would be offset during the first year by the 20,000 bonus miles you get after your first purchase. Aside from its initial bonus, the American Express Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card gets you a free companion ticket each year, a free checked bag each time you fly Delta, and at least 1 mile for each dollar you spend. The question of the hour remains though: Should you get the Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express? That depends on two things: whether you have excellent credit and whether you fly often and exclusively with Delta. American Express has basically targeted its entire credit card business to people with excellent credit, so applying for this card without a long, basically impeccable credit record would be a mistake. Also, since you want rewards you can redeem often, only Delta Frequent Flyers should even consider getting the Platinum SkyMiles Credit Card.
