Shell Credit Card's Additional Info
If you are approved for a Shell Credit Card, you will be automatically enrolled in the Fuel Rewards ® program and receive instant Gold Status.
The Shell Credit Card has a $0 annual fee and offers a long list of rebates to people with good credit or better who regularly fill up at Shell stations. For a limited time, new cardholders get $0.30 per gallon off five Shell fuel purchases, up to 35 gallons each time. The standard rebate is $0.10 per gallon, up to 20 gallons per fill-up at Shell stations.
The Shell Credit Card also helps you save on gas when you’re buying other things. You get 10% back, in the form of Shell rebates, on the first $1,200 in non-fuel purchases made at Shell stations each year. You get 2% back on your first $10,000 in dining and groceries purchases each year. And you get 1% back on everything else.
So you should definitely consider applying for the Shell Credit Card if you always get gas at a Shell station, especially if you’ll use the card for dining and groceries, too.
Shell Credit Card Review Highlights:
Automatic rebates on Shell gas: The standard discount is 10 cents per gallon, up to 20 gallons per purchase. But the first five fill-ups get you 30 cents per gallon back, up to 35 gallons each time, through April 30, 2025.
Up to 10% back on non-fuel Shell purchases. This max rate applies to your first $1,200 in non-fuel Shell purchases each year. After that, it’s 1% back. Rewards are applied as statement credits to pay for future Shell gas purchases.
Up to 2% back on other purchases. You earn 2% back in Shell rebates on the first $10,000 per year that you spend at restaurants and grocery stores. And you get 1% back on everything else. Both earning rates can be bested by general-purpose rewards cards.
No annual fee. Most of the best gas credit cards have no annual fee. So in that sense, the Citi Shell Mastercard fits right in. The lack of an annual fee also stands to save you about $22.29 per year compared to the average credit card, market-wide.
Not built for balances. Gas isn’t the type of purchase that should force you to carry a balance from month to month. And the Shell Credit Card’s 34.24% (V) regular APR helps underscore that point. It’s obviously well above the 24.12% and 18.04% charged by the average credit cards for people with good and excellent credit, respectively. And that’s a good reason to always pay your bill in full.
Reserved for people with good credit or better. More than 40% of consumers won’t be able to get approved for the Shell Credit Card due to this minimum credit requirement. So you’d be wise to check your credit score for free on WalletHub before applying.
Not the only way to save at the pump. The Shell Mastercard isn’t the only Shell credit card. The Shell Gas Card, which only requires fair credit for approval, is also an option. You can compare the two offers here. It’s also worth checking out WalletHub’s editors’ picks for the year’s best gas rewards credit cards, which feature selections for people in each creditworthiness category, if you’re not wedded to the idea of getting one of the Shell credit cards.

I have had the Shell credit card for a few years now. Faithfully made all monthly payments and no late fees. Well, a couple of years ago, I lost my job, and it's almost impossible for a 73-year-old person to find a job. So now, I am relying only on Social Security. My annual income and credit score went down. But I made sure that all my credit cards were kept up to date. Well, I just found out that my Shell credit card was canceled because of those reasons. I believe that this is wrong. So if you have a Shell credit card beware if your life has been disrupted. I've been trying to get back on my feet but actions like this don't help your credit score. When an account is closed, that goes against your credit.

Shell credit is self-destructive. Our last payment was delayed by the USPS, so Shell added a $29 late fee. But get this: they suspended our credit cards for late payment of the fee! How were we supposed to know the winter mail was delayed? Even with the late fee, we only owe $205 against a $900 credit limit. I've been a Shell customer since 1972, and they strand my elderly wife at a Shell station over a surprise $29 fee? I hope they go out of business.

The credit card is not Apple wallet compatible for starters. There is no application for this credit card so you have to monitor it through an internet browser. The website lacks modern day technology. The auto pay feature is useless because it never pays the full amount. If you end up making a payment before the auto pay, it still submits the automatic payment. If you select to pay for gas through the app, it limits you to 5 cents of savings when if you use the credit card it will give you a 10 cents discount.
No real advantages of this credit card besides having another credit card. Wouldn’t recommend due to its outdated technology from Shell.

Sometimes the card can be difficult to use when you pay at the pump when trying to use rewards points. There are a descent amount of shell stations nationwide so accessibility is not an issue.

It's an ok gas card but I prefer to pay for fuel full price. The Shell has Card I have found, there cost for fuel is generally higher than the average so the fuel discounts usually are at the average rate so It's good to have in an emergency use if you lack the funds when you need fuel.

I've tried to close this account to no avail. I do not want it and Shell said they cannot close it as it is a CitiBank Card. I've tried to connect with CitiBank by phone and no one answers or the line cuts off.
