Capital One Quicksilver Secured Card Review Highlights
Rewards: Unlimited 1.5% cash back
Most credit cards that accept applicants with bad credit do not offer rewards, let alone rewards that are about 40% more valuable than what the average cash back credit card provides. Plus, you can earn 5% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.
Annual Fee:$0
The Capital One Quicksilver Secured Card’s $0 annual fee is one of its most important features, as it enables cardholders to build credit without wasting any money. The average annual fee among new credit card offers is currently $22.29.
Interest Rate:29.99% (V)
The Capital One Quicksilver Secured interest rate is well above the average for a secured credit card offer (22.83%), but it’s best not to carry a balance from month to month with a secured card anyway. It’s like paying interest on a loan to yourself, given the deposit requirement.
Security Deposit:$200
The Capital One Quicksilver Secured security deposit requirement is $200, to be placed when you open an account. The deposit amount then becomes your account’s credit limit. You can get the money back when you close the account and bring the balance to $0. Also, Capital One will monitor your account activity, and you may get your deposit back as a statement credit if you use it responsibly.
Credit Score Requirement:Bad credit or better
The Capital One Quicksilver Secured accepts applicants of all credit levels, including people with bad credit or limited credit history.
Bottom Line: Is Capital One Quicksilver Secured a Good Credit Card?
Yes, Capital One Quicksilver Secured is a good credit card. The Capital One Quicksilver Secured Card is a worthwhile option because it has a $0 annual fee, gives 1.5% cash back on all purchases, accepts applicants of all credit levels, and reports to all three major credit bureaus on a monthly basis. In other words, it provides a great opportunity to improve your credit score and save money at the same time.

I do not have the secured card, but I cannot delete this comment for some reason. I have the regular Quicksilver card. The only thing I do not like is that after two years of on-time payments and making extra payments each month, they will not increase my credit limit.

Capital One is practicing the BATE & SWITCH tactic on the Quicksilver card. The bate is th 0% interest rate. The switch is the variable uncapped interest rate after that.

Use discover, Capitalone will never upgrade your secured to unsecured, discover upgraded mine to unsecured and raised my credit limit in 6 months but capitalone instead of upgrading mine to unsecured they keep sending me preapproved offers for higher tier credit cards lol oh my credit score is almost excellent not to mention Capitalone has the worst overseas customer service, comparing to discover US based customer service, discover is a clear winner

Your review isn't valid. Your review didn't really say anything but that it provided bizarre customer service and you are the quintessential "excellent customer", and then you provide 5 stars as the score. Do better.

Capital One has changed how they do business. Years back I had 2 separate VISA & MC accounts... with no hassle. Then suddenly my payments weren't posting, when I'd never changed banks. Then the website wasn't working right. Their 800 cust. support became useless, to the point of "cannot help you" "will cancel your card" nonsense. Then, they started black-marking my credit score UGH. I happily canceled both accounts, and paid them off. Find a BETTER CC

I've received terrible customer service the last few times I've called. I have money being withdrew from my account twice from which I didn't authorize. The worst part is the problem isn't being resolved. I'm very disappointed with capitol one for making it as complicated as possible to try and get this resolved. 2 star service at best.

This is a great card for building credit, rebuilding credit or if you're just starting out. It is a secured card until they upgrade to unsecured but there are no annual fees and it is a cash back card.

They don't upgrade to a unsecured card automatically like discover does in 6 months. You have to reapply for a unsecured credit card through Capital One after 6 months.

Not sure that I would ever sign up for this card again. They offer no special discounts, nor are you able to increase credit limit. The APR is not great either. Annual fee is $100. Normally if you have an annual fee it’s actually worth something.

I started with a secured card quite some time ago and have faithfully kept my account in good standing. After making an inquiry to ask for an upgrade the representative told me that wasn't possible, that I need to continue making annual payments even though they are apparently offering the same rewards to other new customers without charging them an annual fee. However they did approve me for a different card (unsecured and no annual fee) through them previously, which I have kept in good standing since opening, so not sure why they won't upgrade the secured one. I am trying to eliminate my cards that charge annual fees, since my credit score is improving, but hoping that it won't hurt my credit score to close those accounts. Also the interest rate is higher than some of the others I have.

I'm not a big fan of capital one at the moment. I started with a $200 secured CL and expected it to graduate soon to unsecured like my discover it card but instead they only increased my CL to 300 total. I always pay off in full every month. If I don't graduate to unsecured by 12 months I will close this card account and just use all my other high limit credit card accounts that I pay off all in full every month.
