EXPERT’S ANSWERS

Is credit standing the only factor to consider?

By: Odysseas Papadimitriou, CardHub CEOIf you can't get approved for a given credit card, it might as well not exist. Therefore, your credit standing dictates the credit card deals available to you and helps narrow your search. However, it's not the sole factor to be taken into consideration when searching for the best credit card deal. Credit cards are usually designed for specific purposes, and, as a result, the best deals on credit cards depend on what you plan to use your card for in addition to your credit standing.

How often do these credit card deals change?

By: Odysseas Papadimitriou, CardHub CEOPeople often search for the best credit card deals 2011, implying a belief that these deals are static. However, credit card companies regularly change their offers, often altering rewards, interest rates and fees in the process. This means that the best credit card deals one month might not be the same as the next. As a result, our editors update this list whenever they find new deals.

What's the difference between credit card deals and credit card promotions?

By: John Kiernan, Personal Finance EditorCredit card promotions, or credit card specials, are generally limited-time offers used by credit card companies to advertise special card features, such as an introductory 0% APR. While some of the best credit card deals stem from credit card promotions, others are categorized as good deals because of prominent yet permanent features. However, since these terms are so closely connected, they are often used interchangeably to describe top credit card offers.

My favorite credit card that is out there is the chase platinum. I like this card because it has a low interest rate and every-time you use your card you get rewards that you can turn in for gift cards and other merchandise.

The Capital One Platinum Prestige Credit Card is my go to credit card! I can’t say enough great things about it. About a year ago, I got myself into a debt situation on another once of my credit cards that had an interest rate of 15%. I was unemployed at the time, and I wasn’t sure how long that I would be unemployed for. I wanted to get the balance on this other card paid off as soon as possible so I decided to look around for cards to transfer the balance to. After doing a lot of research and searching reviews, I decided upon the Capital One® Platinum Prestige more

I think the best credit card, especially for those just starting out (students, young adults, etc) is definitely the Discover It card. You could say it has that "it" factor! No annual fees, which for me is hugely important. I won't even consider a card that charges an annual fee, and I'd encourage you not to as well. The general lack of fees coupled with reasonable interest rates, tremendous customer service, generous fraud liability protection and a great reward program skyrocket this card to the top of my charts. Another close contender, however, is Amazon's credit card, which may even be better IF you shop at Amazon a lot, like more

As a another college student, I would argue that the best credit card to use is the My One card from Capital One. This card allows me to retrieve my refund quickly and it also has a 1% cash back benefit. Customer service is decent but the representatives are always available for students. Their website and consulting services provide knowledge about credit and responsibility and similarly, scholarships are provided by their intuition. Another benefit is the fact that there is no annual fee and you can receive one just for being a student. Recipients must be responsible. It is a very rewarding card for responsible students.

As a college student the best credit card for myself is the Journey Student Rewards from Capital One. This card has competitive interest rates and they allow for 1% cash back. Their customer service is great, they are very patient with students, like myself, who do not have very much knowledge about how credit cards work. This is a great card for students to start building credit. There is no annual fee and they do not require you to have perfect credit to apply. This card has helped me build a good base credit while still in school. As long as you responsible this will be a great card for more

Chase Slate is my pick for the best card and these are some of the reasons why. I mean what can I say I have had this card for a while and all I can say is, this card has never let me down. I mean everyone knows about the amazing ARP and the 0% intro rate, but its the other things that make this card great. Like the max late fee is only 35.00, the mobile apps, and the easy application process. Overall this card is great my only major gripe is that there are no rewards programs, which is a mainstay now of almost every credit card these more

My favorite credit card is the Macy’s American Express. I love it because AMEX often has promos where you can add them to your card like the spend $150 get $15 back for purchases at NewEgg. They also have a bunch of other ones like for BestBuy or WholeFoods.

My favorite credit card is the Discover It card. Gives the best of both worlds with awesome cashback bonuses and no annoying annual fees. No foreign transaction fees allows me to travel abroad and not have to worry. Customer service has also been top notch.

I have several credit cards, but by far my most often used and enjoyed is my Chase Amazon.com credit card. I was approved in seconds, and upon signing up received a $50 amazon gift card instantly. I was given a generous credit line and a decent interest rate, and no annual fee. The best perk of this card is the reward points feature. 3x points on all amazon purchases, which can add up quickly if you shop on Amazon regularly. I do my banking through Chase, and their app also shows my balance for this credit card as well as the option to make instant payments straight from my checking more

I have a Capital One Quick Silver card, I have had it for about 18 months now. It is the best card ever, I get 1.5% back for all my purchases, which I have set up that when it gets $50 in it it is applied as a credit to my card. I really believe the annual fee of $39 is real cheap as some of my friends with other cards are paying 70-80 per year. The first six months there was no interest on it at all.

The best credit card is the Discover IT card. They had a sign up bonus for a $75 Amazon gift card if you sign up through the Amazon website. There is no annual fee and so far I'm loving the card. Right now they have a promotion going on where you earn 5% cash back on all purchases. Normally, the cash back is only 1% so this 5% is a really good deal. They have this promotion going on until about the end of September.

I prefer my credit card, which is a Visa through my bank of over 20 years. I accumulate a 2% cash back on all my purchases and I can call and have the credits applied to my balance whenever I have at least $20 in point accumulated. They make it easy to accumulate point since I don't have to think about what I'm purchasing and if it falls whithin the realms of a special offer. And I don't have to wait for a certain date to apply my credits toward my balance or I can choose to have them send me a check. This is my kind of card.

Personally, I think the general Capital One Mastercard is the best way to go for just about everyone. It was my first and currently only credit card and I am quite content with it. No annual fee, cheap payment protection (which is optional), cash rewards, and they seem to always given a genuinely decent credit limit. I just feel the Capital One card is a great way for young people to start developing positive credit and it's a good card in general for anyone.

Personally I love the capital one quicksilver Visa card. There is no annual fee which is really nice. The rewards program is also one of the best features that come with this card. You get cash back rewards on every purchase and you are able to receive that money via check or credited towards your bill whenever you want. It is very convenient and rewarding in my opinion.
