EXPERT’S ANSWERS

Should I get the longest 0% APR period possible?

By: Ross GarnerAssuming you will pay off your balance in full by the end of the introductory period, most definitely yes. If you will not be able to do so, an offer's regular rate must also be part of your consideration. So keep practical payment time frames in mind when comparing credit card rates, and use a payment calculator to find out how long it will take you to pay down your debt.

What if I pay my bill in full every month?

By: Ross GarnerIf you pay your bill in full every month, interest rates are of no concern to you and you should get the best rewards credit card possible. However, if you will be making some significant purchases which will result in an end-of-month balance, finding the lowest credit card rates is advisable.

The Discover credit card for student is a great credit card for those making to make a big new purchase. For the first six months you have no interest, that's pretty hard to beat. Top onto that top notch customer service and terms once the intro period (again, six months) and you have yourself a winning combination.

I've used the Capital One VentureOne card for 2+ years now and absolutely love it. Not only is the 0% introductory APR great, but it is a great rewards card for those who want to travel. After using the VentureOne card (no annual fee) for just over a year, I switched to the Venture card with an annual fee, but 2% travel rewards on all purchases. It has worked out great for me so far... have been able to take some great trips!

I recently applied for and was granted the Capital One Platinum Prestige Card. I am very excited that I now have this card. For the first fifteen months there is a 0% APR on all purchases. After the introductory period it will remain low, around 14.9%. There is no annual fee. I did my research and have found that this is one of the most sought after cards because of the low interest fees. Not everybody will be eligible for this card, but I highly suggest you apply if you feel like your credit score is high enough.

The Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards Credit Card is the best credit card that I have ever had. It allows me to make purchases and get 1.5% back on everything. The best part is the 0% apr on any purchase until May 2015. The 0% apr can really help if you need to make a big purchase as well. I think that they have the best customer service and are always friendly and nice.

Navy Federal Platinum is by far the best card. A set 7.99% APR, no annual fee, and generous credit limit are the three stand outs for this card. There are not enough positive things I can say about NFCU, their credit card is no different. Awesome customer service, issues handled promptly, always actually working for you not just to get your money.

The BankAmericard® for Students Credit Card is an excellent choice with the 15 month 0% interest rate. I recently used this card and was able to save a good amount of money because of the excellent rate. I highly recommended this to a couple of my friends who were looking for a similar type card recently. If you are a student then this is the card you are looking for.

After reviewing all of the credit cards, I have decided upon the DiscoverIt card for students for it's 6 months free of APR and subsequent 12.99% APR. I am a student, so this would be the most beneficial to me as a borrower. This would be most beneficial to me in purchasing my new college textbooks, and not having to worry payments for, at most 6 months. I value this cards details because it is helping students gain the materials and equipment needed for a successful career outlook. Now that I'm familiar with this card option, I will keep it as my last resort option if I'm ever low on more

The Capital One QuicksilverOne Cash Rewards card is the best low interest card I've ever had. In my opinion, they have the best rewards that I've seen thus far. I'm constantly using this card when I go to the grocery store and run various errands. The cashback feature is absolutely amazing when I'm doing a lot of shopping. I'm spending money, but also receiving cash back all at the same time. I honestly have no complaints or negative things to say about this card. The customer service department was very effective, professional and respectful when I had to call. I'm very impressed with this card overall!

I'm not sure what it is, but capital one has consistently provided me with the best customer service with all cards I have used with them. Their staff is very kind and helpful, and is always willing to help with any question or concerns I have. There are a ton of interesting features with this card, though honestly not all of them are really totally useful. It is nice to get rewards for new purchases, but I would prefer a larger amount of cash back/rewards opportunities. I have noticed that the first time purchase bonuses do not always work correctly in their system, but calls to customer service have always more

The best credit card I have had personal experience with is the Discover It card. You don't need a long credit history for this card and they do annual increases to your credit limit. As long as you make your payments on time every month you will get increases and they add up quickly. An initial 0% interest rate allows you to learn all the basics for credit cards and money management. The discover rewards are great because you get 1% on everything you buy and then they run quarterly promotions for various things like, restaurants, gas, movies, department stores, vacation etc that you can earn 5% cash back on. more
