Last update: Dec 15, 2014

best credit card deals The best credit cards are those that stand out from their peers in a given category or niche – whether that is interest rates, rewards or the ability to rebuild damaged credit. After all, there is no single credit card that offers the best possible terms across the board. Below you will find CardHub’s editors picks for the best cards in each credit segment (some of which originate from CardHub advertising partners). This includes a mixture of credit cards offering lucrative initial rewards bonuses, high regular rewards earning rates, and 0% introductory periods on both purchases and balance transfers. To see our best card picks arranged by type of benefit (e.g. best rewards cards or best balance transfer cards), use the drop down menu to the right.

About our Editor's Picks

Our editors' recommendations for the Best Credit Cards are a reflection of their own subjective opinions, and they should not be relied upon as the sole basis for choosing your credit card. We work hard to present you with the most accurate credit card information, however, the credit card terms and conditions do not originate from us and thus we do not guarantee the accuracy of the information. Before applying for a credit card we recommend that you verify the credit card terms and conditions on the credit card company's web site. Please let us know if you find any differences.

Ad Disclosure: Certain offers originate from paying advertisers, and this will be noted on a card's details page using the designation "Sponsored Card", where applicable. Advertising status does not affect which cards show up on this page but may impact the order in which they appear. At CardHub we try to list as many credit card offers as possible and currently have more than 1,200 offers, but we do not make any representation of listing all available offers.

EXPERT’S ANSWERS

What is the best credit card to have?

By: Odysseas Papadimitriou, CardHub CEOWhile some credit cards do provide great overall options, it's easiest to determine the best credit card for you as an individual if you know exactly what you will be using the card for. Card Hub's Island Approach recommends having individual credit cards for different purposes, such as earning rewards on everyday purchases, making balance transfers, etc. By concentrating on getting the best credit cards for individual transaction-types, you'll likely be able to get a better combination of rates and rewards than that found on any individual credit card.

How often do the best credit cards change?

By: John Kiernan, Personal Finance EditorOur editors add appropriate offers to this page as soon as they are introduced. Credit card companies change the terms and rewards associated with their products regularly, and as such, the best credit card offers may change regularly as well. Therefore, the Best Credit Cards 2010 will almost certainly differ from the Best Credit Cards 2011. The cards listed on this page also fluctuate based on the rules governing the credit card industry. For example, the best credit cards for college students and young adults changed drastically after the passage of the Credit CARD Act since anyone under the age of 21 now needs a co-signer or proof of income to open a credit card.

What are the best credit card companies?

By: Odysseas Papadimitriou, CardHub CEOFirst of all, it's important to make the distinction between credit card companies and credit card networks. Credit card companies issue credit cards, set rates, charge fees and hold your accounts. A card's network simply dictates where you can use it. The best credit card company for you is simply the one with the best offers. Determining the best credit card deals is far easier now because the Credit CARD Act improved the transparency of the credit card industry and increased the reliability of credit card terms. Now, if a credit card offer looks to be the best, you can be sure it is. The most widely accepted credit card networks are VISA and MasterCard. Still, this does not mean you should go out looking for the best Visa credit card or the best MasterCard offering. All four major networks (Discover and American Express included) have wide coverage in the U.S., so don't limit your search unless you have a very good reason to get a card on a particular network.

The best credit which I have is my BOA VISA Cash reward credit card. I have been using this since 2010. This has a bit high interest rate compared to my other cards.
But one thing I like about this card is cash rewards. Whatever I buy, i get cash rewards. I get minimum of $25 in a billing cycle and I am not paying that much interest to this card. Another positive point about BOA cards is the customer service and on how they care their customer when he/she find out suspicious or fraud transactions. They themself called me and said we are sending you new card as they found more

I used the Capitol One Secured MasterCard, and I found it to be a fantastic card for first time credit card users. Because it is a secured card, you can't go over the limit since what you pay into the card is what your limit is. The APR is a bit high, but if you manager you budget right, and you do not go over your limit, this card can be a great way to build credit for people with bad credit or no credit. I used this card when I was in college, and I used it to buy small items and paid the balance off immediately. Doing that more

The Amex Blue Cash is amazing. I get cash back on all my purchases, which more than pays off the $75 yearly fee within months especially because I pile my gas and groceries on there. The 6% max cash back is also much higher than many other credit cards out there. Highly recommended.

I have been using my Capital One Platinum card now for several years and have had really no issues with it. I don't think anyone would as long as they pay their minimum monthly payment. There really aren't any hidden fees, but hey will slap a "payment protection plan", that you can easily cancel. Their minimum monthly payment is pretty low, and it goes directly towards your balance. The only notes for anyone possibly interested in signing up for a Capital One card is ALWAYS be sure to pay your bill on time, because they will charge a late fee very soon after the due date has expired, and NEVER more

CAPITAL ONE HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! They closed my account without notifying me and in turn I lost all of my cashback points! I would recommend NOT getting involved with a company like this because their business practices are absolutely NOT about the customer! Oh yea and the reason why they shut my account down was for the best interest of CAPITAL ONE. Yea makes sense because they got to keep 700 bucks from me. I never write bad reviews because I hate taking the time out of my day but they were literally the worst experience I have had with a customer service department.

The best credit card I've had so far has been the paypal extras MasterCard. The transactions are very secure and everything is processed through paypal. Making payments are quick and easy, you can even use your paypal balance. There is also a nice rewards system which is great for people who make lots of online purchases.

The best credit card I have used was the Capital One Platinum Credit Card. There is no annual 0 interest till February 2015. I love it. I have been using it for sometime now. They are also really good on the phone if you have any troubles. I see my self having this card for years and will enjoy seeing it grow and helping my credit. I may try to get another one in a year.

The best credit card that I have ever used is my Amazon Chase Visa credit card. I love that credit card. You rack up points for anything that you purchase. If you purchase items at a grocery store, you get 1 point for every dollar spent. If you purchase gas, you get two points for every dollar spent. If you purchase items on amazon, you get 3 points for every dollar spent. After you accumulate a certain amount of points, you can cash out for either a check or you can cash out for gift cards. They actually have it available now where you can use the points that you more

In my opinion, the best card is the Chase Sapphire Preferred. While other cards offer a greater percentage for cash back, the Chase Ultimate Rewards program is one of the best out there. They offer tremendous service and the points are very versatile. Also, there is no foreign transaction fee and if you are a big spender, then the annual fee is worth it.
