If you’re thinking of getting a new credit card, waiting until say April and getting the Citizens Bank Accelerator Rewards Credit Card could be pretty darn powerful. We all know that gas prices are once again on the rise (thanks, Iran!) and since summer is apparently the height of fuel consumption (due to people driving to vacation destinations, I guess) getting a great gas rewards card for the summer months would really help your wallet. The Citizens Bank Accelerator Card isn’t the best for ongoing use, but it gives you 10% cash back on all as purchases for the first 90 days you have your account. With all that extra dough you could buy a hawk or a suit of armor or whatever those dudes in that commercial got with their savings (I forget exactly what the commercial was for, but that great description no doubt clued you in). Of course, that’s not all the Citizens Bank Accelerator Credit Card has to offer. It also offers 2% cash back on gas after 90 days and 1% cash back on everything else. When it comes to interest rates, the Citizens Bank Accelerator Card gives you 0% for 12 months. If you don’t feel like opening a credit card solely for three months worth of excellent rewards, there are some other options to explore. The Pentagon Federal Credit Union Credit Card offers 5% cash back on gas all the time. The Blue Cash Everyday from Amex offers 3% cash back at supermakets, 2% at gas stations and department stores, and 1% everywhere else. The Chase Sapphire Preferred offers a $500 -625 initial bonus. And there’s both a Chase Slate Card and a Discover More Card that provide 0% on purchases and transfers for 15 months and do not have annual fees. You can’t go wrong by getting one of these cards or the Citizens Bank Accelerator Credit Card (unless you apply for one that doesn’t meet your needs or without the requisite credit standing, that is).
