The
Deserve® PRO Mastercard is an underrated rewards credit card for people who deserve to save extra on travel, entertainment and dining at restaurants because they’ve managed to build the good credit or excellent credit needed for approval. Deserve Pro rewards cardholders with 3% cash back on travel and entertainment, 2% back at restaurants and 1% back on everything else. The downside to those bonus rewards rates is that they only apply to $500 in bonus-category spending each billing period. Plus, Deserve Pro does not offer a traditional initial rewards bonus. But cardholders who spend at least $1,000 within 90 days of opening an account get a Priority Pass Select airport lounge membership valued at $99 for one year.
Most credit cards with such a rewards package charge at least a modest annual fee, but not Deserve Pro. The Deserve Pro Mastercard has a
$0 annual fee, which means cardholders don’t have to spend a certain amount to make it worthwhile. Deserve Pro doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees, either, which is good news if any of your spending happens internationally.
The Deserve Card Pro Card has plenty of other nifty perks, too. There’s up to $600 in cell phone protection if you pay your monthly cell phone bill with the Deserve Pro Card. Deserve Pro also figures to be one of the easier credit credit cards to get approved for. It’s targeted to students, young professionals and recent immigrants – groups known for having limited credit history.
For your convenience, we’ll lay out the most important factors to consider before applying for the Deserve Pro Credit Card below.
Deserve Pro Mastercard Review Highlights- Annual Fee: $0. The average credit card charges $22.29 per year. Rewards credit cards offering up to 3% back often have annual fees around $100.
- Initial Bonus: $99 Priority Pass Select airport lounge membership for spending $1,000 in the first 90 days. The average sign-up bonus on a cash rewards card is $228.
- Travel & Entertainment Rewards: 3% cash back. This earning rate applies to purchases from merchants that are categorized as being travel- or entertainment-related. The usual suspects, from airlines and hotels to movie theaters and ticket websites, will qualify. If you spend more than $500 on travel, entertainment and dining at restaurants in a billing period, additional travel and entertainment purchases will earn just 1% back for the rest of the billing period.
- Restaurant Rewards: 2% cash back. This doesn’t quite make Deserve Pro the best credit card for restaurant rewards. But it could be a big-time money-saver if you dine out regularly, just not enough to get a credit card with rewards that revolve around dining. Just remember that once you spend $500 on dining, travel and entertainment in a billing period, additional restaurant spending will get you just 1% back for the rest of the billing period.
- Base Rewards Rate: 1% cash back. This is standard for a cash back credit card. The average cash rewards card gives 1.15% back on all purchases.
- Foreign Transaction Fee: $0. No foreign fee is a must if you plan on traveling abroad or otherwise making purchases from merchants based internationally.
- APR: 16.74% - 23.74% (V), based on creditworthiness. That interest-rate range is high bordering on very high, considering that applicants need at least good credit for good approval odds. The average APR among cards for people with good credit is 24.12%, while the excellent-credit average is about 18.04%. The Deserve Pro Card doesn’t have low introductory interest rates, either. But with good credit, there are several other credit cards with 0% APRs that you can get approved for.
