The Amazon Business Credit Card from American Express has a
$0 annual fee and delivers lots of opportunities to rack up rewards. Perhaps most importantly, cardholders can earn 3% back on purchases with Amazon.com, Amazon Business, AWS and Whole Foods. The card also provides 2% back on purchases at U.S. restaurants and U.S. gas stations, as well as on wireless phone services purchased directly from U.S. providers. All other purchases yield 1% back.
So even though the Amazon Business Amex is a relative newcomer, it’s already one of the best business credit cards for ongoing rewards. New cardholders automatically get a
$100 Amazon.com gift card after being approved for an account.
The Amazon Business Amex Card has a fairly high regular APR and does not offer low introductory rates on purchases or balance transfers. But that does not mean it’s useless as far as financing is concerned. It’s possible to get a 60-day, interest-free repayment period for purchases from Amazon.com, Amazon Business, AWS and Whole Foods. But doing so would mean giving up the ability to earn rewards on those purchases.
Amazon Business Credit Card Review Highlights: - Annual Fee: $0
Most business credit cards with top-tier rewards charge annual fees. But the Amazon Business Credit Card’s $0 annual fee only saves cardholders about $22.29 per year compared to the average credit card overall. - Initial Bonus: $100
New cardholders are guaranteed a bonus of at least $100 when they apply and get approved, in the form of a gift card.
- Regular Rewards Rate: 1 - 3 points / $1
How rewarding the card will be depends on how much you spend in its bonus rewards categories. For context, the base rewards rate of 1% back is roughly average for a credit card. If you’d prefer flat-rate rewards, some of the best cards offer 2% back, or more, on all purchases.
- APR: 19.49% - 27.49% (V)
The exact rate that approved cardholders are assigned depends on their overall creditworthiness. To give you a sense of how this range compares to rates across the market, the average credit card offer has a regular APR of 22.89%, while the average business credit card charges 22.15%.
- Foreign Transaction Fee: 0%
This means you won’t have to pay extra when making purchases while abroad or through internationally based suppliers. But remember, a lot of this card’s rewards appeal is tied to spending through U.S. companies.
- Special Financing: 60 days with no interest
This applies to purchases made through Amazon.com, Amazon Business, AWS and Whole Foods. But you won’t earn rewards on purchases that you apply the special financing to.
- Other Perks: The Amazon Business credit card provides helpful expense-tracking tools, special pricing on eligible purchases, and free employee cards with customizable spending limits, among other benefits.
- Requirements: Good credit or better; 18+ years old, U.S. mailing address, Social Security number.
The Amazon Business American Express Card is not the only Amazon credit card on the market right now. It’s not even the only option for business owners. There’s also the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card, which provides better rewards but is reserved for Amazon Prime members.
In addition, there are two Amazon.com credit cards for consumers: a Visa credit card for people with good credit or better and a store card for fair credit. There is a Prime version of each, too.
Depending on your specific situation, it could make sense to consider any of the current Amazon credit card offers.
