The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card is one of the best business credit cards with no annual fee. It rewards cardholders with
1 - 2% cash back on purchases. And your cash back rewards will be automatically credited to your statement every month. Plus, the card offers a
$250 statement credit after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. The Amex Blue Business Cash Credit Card also enables new cardholders to avoid interest on new purchases for an extended period, offering a low intro APR.
Amex Blue Cash for Business is not without shortcomings, however. Its regular APR can be pretty high, for example, at
18.49% - 26.49% (V), depending on your creditworthiness when you apply. Plus, the Blue Business Cash Credit Card charges a
2.7% foreign transaction fee, which means it’s not the right choice for purchases that will be processed abroad.
Below, you can get the full scoop on what this card does and does not bring to the table, along with what it takes to get approved.
American Express Blue Business Cash Card Review Highlights: - Good rewards with a limit. New cardholders can earn $250 by spending $3,000 within 3 months of account opening. For context, the average cash back credit card bonus is roughly $228. In terms of ongoing rewards, Blue Business Cash gives you 2% cash back on the first $50,000 in eligible purchases per year. All other eligible purchases earn 1% back, which is barely below the 1.15% average for a cash rewards card. So it’s best to use this particular card solely for the higher earn rate.
- No annual fee. Blue Business Cash is roughly $22.29 cheaper than the average credit card. In addition to the money this stands to save you, the lack of an annual fee makes it easier to justify getting the card just for its rewards.
- No initial bonus. Although Blue Business Cash offers a lot of ongoing value, the deal does not include an initial bonus. That puts Blue Business Cash at a $228 disadvantage compared to the average cash rewards card with an initial bonus.
- Good credit or better required. You personally (not your business) need good to excellent credit to get approved for the Blue Business Cash Credit Card from American Express. You can check your latest credit score for free on WalletHub, in addition to learning more about why your personal credit standing dictates business credit card approval.
- Average interest-free period. Blue Business Cash offers an intro APR of 0% for 12 months on new purchases. Reduced financing costs could save your business a lot of money, as long as you remember that the offer has a clear expiration date with a high regular APR waiting behind it.
- Far from ideal for financing normally. The card’s regular APR is 18.49% - 26.49% (V). Business credit cards aren’t the best for carrying a balance because issuers can increase the interest rate on that balance whenever they wish. That’s not the case with general-consumer cards, however.
