  • Joe Weider:
We all know that Best Buy Gift Cards will be a popular gift this holiday season, but what about the Best Buy Credit Card? Could it also play an important role in your holiday spending? Well, this store card offers 2 points per $1 spent at Best Buy and Best Buy.com. 250 points gets you a $5 gift card, so for every $125 you spend at Best Buy, the Best Buy Credit Card saves you $5. That makes the Best Buy card essentially a 4% cash back credit card on store purchases, which is pretty good if you plan on doing most of your shopping at Best Buy. Some interesting financing offers are also part of the Best Buy Credit Card. If you pay down purchases totaling $149 – $429 within 6 months, you won’t be charged interest. If you pay down those totaling $429 - $899 within 12 months, there’s no interest. And the same thing is true if you pay down purchases of $899 and up within 18 months. Given that the holiday season is the busiest shopping time of the year and electronics are popular gifts, these deals could be helpful in paying down purchases you can’t initially cover with cash. Still, this card only has value if you are a diehard Best Buy shopper, and no matter your store preferences, I would recommend taking a look at cash back rewards cards and balance transfer cards to see if any provide equal or more value than the Best Buy Credit Card AND allow you to earn your rewards or apply your low interest rate to purchases made at any store.
