BMW Credit Card's Additional Info
0% intro APR for balance transfers made within 30 days of account opening.
Complimentary Mastercard benefits, including a $5 Lyft credit every month after taking 3 rides and a complimentary ShopRunner membership. ShopRunner currently offers members 2-day shipping and free return shipping at over 100 online retailers.
5,000 points initial bonus. You will get 5,000 points for spending $500 within the first 90 days of account opening. That is about $63 according to our calculations. The average initial bonus among current credit card offers is roughly $228.
Lucrative rewards on purchases. You will earn 4 points per $1 spent at BMW Centers and BMW Dealers, 3 points per $1 spent on gas, 2 points per $1 spent at restaurants (including fast food) and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases. That amounts to 1% to 4% “cash” back, given that BMW points are worth a penny apiece. For context, the average cash rewards credit card offers 1.15% back.
25% more value when you redeem points for a BMW Rewards Card. The BMW Visa Card is a must-have if you’re planning to buy or already have a BMW. For example, 20,000 points are worth $250 at the BMW Centers.
Good credit needed for approval. The BMW Card requires good or excellent credit for approval, so make sure to check your credit score for free on WalletHub before applying. After all, more than 40% of consumers won’t be able to meet this minimum credit requirement, according to WalletHub data.
New-purchase financing. It won’t help you finance a BMW car purchase, but the BMW Credit Card’s 0% APR on new purchases for the first 12 months could help you save on a big-ticket purchase made wherever Mastercard is accepted. That’s almost as long as the 0% term for the average credit card these days. Similarly, while the BMW Card also offers a 0% APR on balance transfers for the first 12 months, that part of the deal is marred by a 3% (min $5) transfer fee.
No annual fee. The BMW Credit Card is $22.29 per year cheaper than the average credit card, thanks to its lack of an annual fee. This particular feature enables you to do much more than save a few bucks, however.
Not the only BMW card. This standard BMW Card isn’t the only BMW plastic available to you. There’s also the BMW Precision Card. The Precision Card has a $99 annual fee and gives you 3 points per $1 spent on gas, plus 5 points per $1 spent at BMW centers and 1.5 points per $1 spent everywhere else. It also has an initial bonus of 7,500 points and a $70 annual dealership credit. Those are pretty much the only differences. But you can nevertheless compare the two publicly available BMW cards here.

There is no specific starting credit limit for the BMW Credit Card included in the card's terms. However, cardholders report starting credit limits as low as $2,000 and as high as $35,000.
For the most part, BMW Credit Card credit limits depend on each applicant's overall creditworthiness. Those with the highest income and best credit scores will generally be offered the highest starting credit limits.
If you're not satisfied with your starting limit, you can ask to get a credit limit increase by calling customer service at (888) 229-8864. But it's best not to ask more than once a year. The issuer will also evaluate your account periodically to determine whether you are eligible for a credit limit increase. Paying on time and keeping your credit utilization low are key to getting unsolicited credit line increases.
The minimum credit score needed for the BMW Credit Card is 700. In other words, you would need a "Good" credit rating to have a chance at getting approved for this card.
Besides looking at your credit, an issuer will also take other factors into consideration, like your income or any current debts.
Be aware, though, that applying will affect your credit score for a short period of time.
Yes, you can use your BMW Credit Card everywhere that accepts cards on the Mastercard network. That means you can use the card virtually everywhere in the world.
The BMW Credit Card has a foreign transaction fee of 3%, which means you will incur extra charges for international purchases. The card also offers 4 points / $1 spent on purchases at BMW centers and dealers and has a $0 annual fee. This can make the card a good option for people...
It should take 7-10 business days to get the BMW Credit Card after you get approved. Unfortunately, expedited shipping is not available at the moment.
If your card doesn't arrive on time, then call customer service (888) 229-8864. They should be able to send you a replacement card if the original got lost on the way.
The BMW Credit Card uses the three major credit bureaus for approval: Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. Applying for this card will also trigger a hard inquiry on your report, so make sure to take that into account as well.
After approval, the BMW Credit Card will report your activity back to all three bureaus. That means the card can help you build credit as long as you pay the bill by the due date each month and stay well below your credit...

Think before you accept that card. They collaborate with scammers. I have a feeling they are also scammers. If you have a problem and an unauthorized transaction occurs, you can forget about resolving it. Their customer service is far from excellent. They promised that the claims department would call back, but the call never comes. If I could give zero stars, I would. I regret the day I applied for that credit card. If you care about your credit, stay away from the BMW credit cards.

Card use is now for emergency only. Their security can almost be annoying. They check every charge and use a triple sign in security .

The rewards program is terrible!! The dealership wasn’t able to redeem the e-gift cards only the physical ones. Then they tell me 3-4 weeks to get back my e rewards so I can get physical cards sent. What’s the point of collecting points if I’m constantly unable to use them. A garbage card that will unfortunately just collect dust.

If I could get them a lower rating, I would.
I've had this card since they were first issued. I'm on the verge of cancelling it. Yes, the customer service is terrible; impossible to ever get a rep. And now that they've transferred the account to Elon, it's even worse. No one knows about anything.
My problem is that a few months ago, 3 fraudulent charges appeared. Clearly fraudulent in that they were 1) gas stations, 2) on the other side of town, 3) all visited on the exact same day. I disputed the charges. BMW then denied my dispute. I disputed them again. BMW denied my dispute a second time. Just submitted my third and final dispute showing my Google timeline and noting that I was NOWHERE near that side of town on the date in question. If they deny my dispute again, I'm cancelling my card and telling everyone within my sphere of influence what a terrible credit card it is.

I called BMW card services on 1/22 because of a recent bill statement I received that I was a little confused about and was needing some explanation on. The rep I was speaking with clearly was continuing to get aggravated with me as the conversation went on. However, no voices were raised, no name calling, nothing like that. I just simply said that I didn't fully understand and that I would just simply login to the BMW site and pay it off (it has a low balance). The call wrapped up but I could tell by the reps voice tone that she was a little more put out over the call than I thought she should be. So I tried to log in to BMW card services site like I've done many times before and my account was disabled!!! I immediately called back and spoke to a different rep who informed me my BMW credit card had been reported lost or stolen! And when this happens it disables your web access, canceled the card and makes it completely unusable. And please hear me when I say this I IN NO WAY TOLD THE 1ST REP THAT MY CARD WAS LOST/ STOLEN! I asked the 2nd rep I was speaking to when was my card reported lost/ stolen and she told me about 10 min prior to the call I was on with her! I was FLOORED!! The 1st rep I spoke to actually disabled my card by reporting it lost/ stolen just because she didn't like the way our conversation went!!! I'm still floored by the whole thing. One would expect a little higher level of professionalism and quality of service as well as proper background screening for employees since it's a BMW product/ service. I requested for them to pull the call and listen to it, and bottom line for me is when they here I in no way reported my card lost or stolen this rep should be fired. If a person is willing to disable a clients credit card just because she didn't like the way a call went then what else is she capable of doing that's fraudulent?

I had this card for over 10 years before I canceled it, as it has by far the worse customer service in the world. I've had more issues with payments being lost or "late", which wasn't the case (my bank proved it), and god for bid you have your card stolen....that was a nightmare in of itself. Also, the rewards on this card are obsolete, with many other cards having better perks and ease of use.… read more

Customer Service not that helpful. Only major cc I am aware of that offer s no option to pay minimum plus an additional amount each month. So if you want that option, you have to do 2 transactions a month. One is recurring for the minimum & the other must be done every month which most people won't do so they pay the minimum each month. I am going to pay this card off ASAP.

I think they are running a Wells Fargo Scam. They take forever to post payments and loose payments, then want to charge you late and interest fees. Worst Customer Service. Contacted ATTORNEY GENERAL TO FILE COMPLSINT.
