The Capital One Classic Platinum Credit Card is a good card, but it's probably going to be a bit harder to qualify for than some of the best no-annual-fee secured cards, such as the Capital One Secured or Bank of America® Unlimited Cash Rewards Secured Credit Card. You shouldn't have any issues if you have no credit at all or a credit score in the 650s.
But if you do not get approved for the Platinum Card, placing a $300 deposit on...
More specifically, while it was available, it was a “regular” credit card and not a secured card, meaning that a security deposit was not required. The credit limit was determined by a number of factors such as credit history, income, debt, the issuer's underwriting policies, etc.
So, the Capital One® Classic Platinum Credit Card might no longer be available, but...

Good card. Only wish Capital One would offer spending increase after almost 10 years with payments consistently made on time and balances kept low.

It's just an okay card. I'm no longer impressed with Capital One overall. I admit I am not holding an 800 credit score, however longevity as a customer should count for a little boost.

This card was recently changed by Capital One with my permission to a "SAVOR 1" card with 3% rewards on dining and groceries.
This is my oldest account. Although it opened with a low credit limit, limit increased over time by never missing a payment & without a “hard check”.
Service via phone is knowledgable & courteous but rarely used since app is easy to use & takes care of almost all of my needs.

Capital One is EXTREMELY forgiving…this is my fifth credit card with them within the past 10 years however the first three credit cards I got from Capital One I was not responsible and became way behind on payments and eventually defaulted and the account was closed and charged off and then eventually sent to collections. But it seems like as long as I have a job and have shown positive financial behavior for about the past 3 years before applying for a credit card Capital One will always approve me for a credit card as long as I don't already have one and like I said as long as I've been financially responsible for like at least the past 3 years they will forgive any past defaulted/charged off/delinquent/etc. Dad and old account in the past may have ended up unfortunately having one of those negative marks but as long as you wait a little bit and show positive financial behavior after the fact and I always had a job so I'm thinking a job is a must but I'm not sure but they will forgive you every single time I swear it seems like because I can't believe they're still allowing me to have an unsecured credit card after literally failing on the past five credit cards I've had with them within the past 10 years I will admit however that my available credit did decrease every single time I failed and had to reapply for a new credit card. But I mean there are so many companies that still to this day after 10 years some of them even 15 years old of a past account that went through some negative things similar to what I described about yet they will not extend any type of credit to me whatsoever just because of the one account from forever ago like they want him to give you a second chance 10 plus years later even after showing good financial behavior so yeah in comparison to any companies that do this like discover Bank City Bank Barclays American Express Chase, synchrony Bank, anything to do with PayPal but not necessarily everything to do with web bank which is what PayPal uses all these have denied me after intend some of them almost 15 years later with positive financial history since then and I had a really good card with them way back when and it's not like I didn't make any good payments I had quite a few years of those cards being in good standing but some major issues in my life caused me to have to put all of them in the back burner until I was able to be healthy enough to go and figure out what the heck I needed to do to fix all that but yeah that's all I'm trying to say so thank you Capital One for believing in me because this time I'm not bailing you guys and you guys are really starting to notice by giving me small perks here and there!! ???

Capital one secured credit card is pointless to have. I guess if you don’t have a credit card at all, and need one to get a car rental that I still wouldn’t suggest it. I would still go with Discover secured card. You would still get all the cashback benefits being a secured card holder capital One offers nothing. Maybe just rental car insurance and that’s maybe I’m not sure if he secured cards offer that
