The starting credit limit for the Self Visa® Credit Card is $100 to $3,000. Since this is a secured card, you will need to fund that amount into a security deposit. Your exact starting credit limit will depend on how much of a security deposit you will put down when you first open your Self Visa® Credit Card.
Keep in mind that Self may allow you to increase your security deposit for a higher credit limit, up to $3,000. The Self Visa® Credit Card credit limit can be increased in multiples of $25 at a time. The credit limit increase will be secured by money from your Credit Builder Account. Self also regularly reviews your account to see if you are eligible to receive an unsecured credit limit increase.
You cannot request a credit limit increase on your SoFi Credit Card right now, though a credit limit increase request function should be coming soon, according to SoFi's website. The current SoFi Credit Card maximum credit limit is $10,000, based on your creditworthiness. SoFi does not offer automatic credit limit increase, either.
If you are in the market for a higher limit credit card, you can also check our WalletHub Editors' picks for best high limit credit cards.
You can get a Self Visa® Credit Card return by closing your account with no unpaid balance. If your Credit Builder Account is still active when you close your credit card, the security deposit will be returned to your Credit Builder Account. If your Credit Builder Account is already closed, your security deposit will be returned to you via check or ACH within 10-14 business days.
The only cases where you will not get your full deposit...
No, you cannot get a cash advance with your Self Visa® Credit Card. This card can only be used for purchases.
The fact that Self Visa® Credit Cardcash advances are not an option might actually be a good thing as these transactions are very expensive. For starters, a cash advance fee and a separate cash advance APR apply as soon as you withdraw the cash. There may also be ATM-owner fees, depending on where you make the cash advance.
You shouldn't buy with a credit card anything that you cannot afford to pay off. Otherwise, you will end up in debt, incurring interest charges, and damaging your credit standing. You should also avoid making purchases that incur fees. For example, you shouldn't use a card that charges foreign transaction fees for international transactions.
It should take 10-14 business days to get the Self Visa® Credit Card after your approval. Unfortunately, expedited shipping is not available at the moment.
If your card doesn't arrive on time, then call customer service at (877) 883-0999. They should be able to send you a replacement card if the original got lost on the way.
You can get a replacement for your Self Visa® Credit Card by making a request through your online account or by calling customer service at (877) 883-0999. There is no fee to get a Self Visa® Credit Card replacement, which should arrive in 10-14 business days.
You can request a Self Visa® Credit Card replacement if your current card is stolen, lost or damaged. You don't have to request a replacement card if your current card is about to expire, though. Self should automatically send...
Yes, you can rent a car with your Self Visa® Credit Card. The card is issued on the Visa network, so it is accepted almost everywhere credit cards can be used as a payment method, including car rental agencies. Please note that the card does not offer a rental car insurance benefit at the time.
However, it would not be a good idea to rent a car with your Self Visa® Credit Card. Car rental companies usually put a hold...
If you're thinking of applying for the Self Visa® Credit Card, keep in mind that the annual fee will be assessed before you begin using your card and will reduce the amount of credit you initially have available. For example, if your starting credit limit is $100, your initial available credit will be only $75.
You cannot qualify for Self Visa® Credit Card graduation because Self doesn't offer any fully unsecured credit cards, at this time. However, it's possible for your secured card to become “partially unsecured” if you demonstrate positive usage of credit.
Self regularly reviews and evaluates your account to see if you are eligible to receive an unsecured credit limit increase that will be added to your existing credit limit. To qualify, you must keep your account in good standing,...

I have had the SELF card since September 2022. I made all the payments correctly. In December 2023, they told me that the card is closed without offering any explanation. I inquired about when they would return the money from the security deposit, and they always respond that they do not have a date. I have called more than 10 times without a response, and I have written more than 10 emails only to be told that they do not know or have any idea when they will return my money. I am really very worried and do not know whom to contact to ask for my money back.

Excellent credit builder for anyone in need of help growing their credit profile. Combined with the self loan which has the option to feed into an increase the limit of the card I found them better to help approve your credit.

Be careful signing with this company called "self", they are scammers and they are just there to make money under the pretext that they want to help you build your credit, everything they say is based on lies, every month they cut you off terrible interest on your credit card and if you have a credit builder account with them then you will work to feed them, if you see the name of this company "self" run away quickly, don't say we didn't warn you.I almost forgot, if you have a credit builder account with them and you haven't even started making your first payment yet, they report to the credit bureau that you missed your payment , can you miss a payment for money you don't own ? pay attention to these people, the cfpb must look into their practices of these people.pure scammers

I have the credit builder loan and decided to get the Self credit card. I chose to deposit $200. It took a long while to arrive. I used it a couple of places and made a few payments. I then got texts and emails saying Apple charges were attempted on my credit card for $19.99 and $99.99. They said they approved the $19.99 one. They gave me a number to call and supposedly it was the fraud department. I had to confirm who I was. I hope I was talking to a Self rep. He deactivated my card and then told me to send an email to [email protected]. He said to wait for a response. So basically as every post on here states, they flag your card as fraud and then make it impossible to fix the situation. I haven’t received an email back yet. I asked if I can still make my scheduled payment towards the card. He said no. I said do when my payment is due I’m going to get a late fee? He said I have to ask customer service because he’s the fraud department only. They make it impossible to contact. Why can’t I call someone in customer service? I will be canceling this card and paying what I owe. I will also cancel my self credit builder account as it’s not supposed to mature u til 2024. I do not want to be scammed again. I should have read reviews first. Not sure how they gave 4 stars. How did my card get stolen when I have it in my possession? Was there a data breech on their side? I see a lawsuit in their near future. Do not get this card or account !

28 % interest, relatively low costs to their cc. Their credit building product starts off to create installment credit and after paying a certain amount you can use that money and convert to a revolving trade with a secured cc. Definitely worth taking a look at.
