Back when I was 18, I used a guaranteed approval Chase student credit card while in college to help build my credit. I had no previous debt or credit cards, so this helped me establish my credit. It is my longest account and I have had it for over 7 years. I don’t think it would have been as easy to build credit without having a card with a long history like that.

When I started to use credit cards I used bank cards from local banks to start my credit and it was convenient to pay in person. When I got close to the due date it came in handy. When my credit got better I switched to other cards with better rates and terms.

I used the Capital One card. It was the first card I ever got (with no credit/bad credit) and the limit was high. It was double the line of credit that most cards give you. The interest rate at the time was 0% for the first few months and afterwards was 9 percent. The card is not what it used to be. The interest rates are crazy now and the fees are high as well. I had an annual fee, but it was an unsecured card. Now you only have the option of secured to start with. Still, it is better than most of the cards out there if you more

I once applied for the Capital One Secured Mastercard. I had very poor credit and did not expect to ever have a better one. Once I was guaranteed and approved I was able to make very low payments on the card and it helped to free me from the burden of bad credit!
